Enshrouded: How to Get the Giant Telescope Recipe at Andromeda’s Eye

The Giant Telescope is a large Ancient decoration you build at the Decoration Workbench, and its recipe is tied to the Barber’s side quest Star Signs. You do not buy it or find it in a chest. You read a report at a ruin called Andromeda’s Eye, and the recipe unlocks the moment the game registers you at the telescope platform.

Quick answer: Travel to Andromeda’s Eye in Cinder’s Cradle, just east of Drak’Dal Camp, read the Observatory Report, and cross to the telescope platform. A banner confirms “RECIPE UNLOCKED! Giant Telescope at Decoration Workbench.”

Where Andromeda’s Eye is in Cinder’s Cradle

Andromeda’s Eye is an Ancient star-watch ruin in the lower wasteland of Cinder’s Cradle, the volcanic biome in the northeast of the map. A giant mounted telescope sits at its heart on a circular stone platform, connected by a broken stone walkway that runs over lava. The ruin is directly east of Drak’Dal Camp, so that camp is your closest landmark when you open the world map.

If you reach Cinder’s Cradle through the Ancient Gate area, head northeast past Drak’Dal Camp to find the observatory structures flanking the telescope. You are looking for the chambers on either side of the central bridge, not just the telescope itself.

How to unlock the Giant Telescope recipe

Open the world map and set a marker on Andromeda’s Eye, east of Drak’Dal Camp in the northeast volcanic region. Make your way there on foot or glide in from higher ground, since the approach runs across broken walkways over lava.

Enter the chamber opposite the telescope and search it. You pick up the color palette A Distant Star and the Cinder’s Cradle Bubble here, and you find the lore book titled Observatory Report. Reading the report is what explains how a telescope is assembled.

Cross the central bridge toward the telescope platform. Reaching the platform’s edge triggers the unlock, and the banner reads “RECIPE UNLOCKED! Giant Telescope (+1 more) at Decoration Workbench.” The “+1 more” is the A Distant Star palette at the Coloring Station.

Step into the adjoining ruined hall to grab the lore scroll Ancients and the Flame: Telescopes And Constellations. This does not affect the recipe, but it finishes the set of pickups at the ruin.

Star Signs begins when you speak to the Barber, Elio Ricci, who asks you to figure out how to make a telescope. Finding the report at Andromeda’s Eye completes the key step, and returning to the Barber closes the quest for 225 XP and the Giant Telescope itself.

How to confirm the recipe unlocked

The on-screen banner is your immediate confirmation. After it appears, open your Decoration Workbench and look under the Cupboards decoration category, where the Giant Telescope now shows as a craftable entry. If the banner fired but the entry is missing, you are likely at a different crafting station. The Giant Telescope is built only at the Decoration Workbench.

Crafting materials and reference values

Once the recipe is unlocked, the Giant Telescope costs 10 Gold Bars and 10 Celestium Bars, built at the Decoration Workbench with Masonry Tools placed nearby. Both bars are smelted at the Blast Furnace, so plan a gathering trip before you commit. The item is Common rarity and stacks up to 50.

Celestium Ore comes from the meteorite deposits in Cinder’s Cradle, unlocked through the Gathering Celestium quest, and the recipe to smelt Celestium Bars is learned the moment you pick up the ore. Gold Bars follow the same pattern with Gold Ore. Because both ores sit at high item levels, the telescope is a late-biome build rather than an early decoration.

With the report read and the recipe banked, the telescope becomes a repeatable craft. You can place as many as your materials allow, which makes it a fitting centerpiece for an observatory-themed base once your Celestium stockpile is healthy.
