Magic Ascension is the rebirth system in Wizard Alchemy that lifts your level cap once you hit the current ceiling and grants a permanent XP gain boost on top. You start capped at level 10 as an Ordinary Being, and each ascension pushes that ceiling up by 10 levels while stacking another 20% XP gain. Gold cost climbs sharply with each stage, so the system rewards players who farm efficiently between rebirths.

Every Magic Ascension stage in Wizard Alchemy
There are eight named stages in the progression chain, starting from your default state and climbing through apprentice and mentor tiers. Each step requires you to hit the previous cap and spend a fixed amount of gold. The XP gain bonus is additive per stage, so by the time you reach College Mentor you are stacking a substantial multiplier on every kill and quest turn-in.
| Stage | Level required | Gold cost | XP gain | New level cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ordinary Being | Default | — | — | 10 |
| New Apprentice | 10 | 300 | +20% | 20 |
| Junior Apprentice | 20 | 1,000 | +20% | 30 |
| Spells Apprentice | 30 | 5,000 | +20% | 40 |
| Potions Apprentice | 40 | 10,000 | +20% | 50 |
| Divination Apprentice | 50 | 20,000 | +20% | 60 |
| Junior Mentor | 60 | 50,000 | +20% | 70 |
| College Mentor | 70 | 75,000 | +20% | 80 |
Once you hit the cap of a stage, XP stops accumulating entirely until you ascend. That is the main reason skipping Magic Ascension stalls progression so hard in the mid-game. The gold spent during the upgrade is consumed, so you cannot bank it for the next stage.

The flow is short, but you need both the level requirement and the gold in hand before the Upgrade button becomes active.

Fastest ways to level between ascensions
Quests do not award XP directly, but they push completion points and pay out gold plus materials you will need for the next ascension. Combat is where the XP actually comes from, and the heavier the target, the better the return.
- Large resource nodes: Large Mushroom Clusters, Large Blueberry Bushes, and Large Sword Ferns carry more HP and yield more XP per node than their standard versions.
- Enchanted Sword Ferns: Found around the Lava Island region, these have the highest HP of any farmable resource and double as a source of Enchanted Stones.
- Elites and bosses: Mutant variants and named bosses take longer to kill but pay out significantly more XP per fight. The Dwarf King is the standout target for combined gold and XP farming.
- Repeatable quests: The Harryint quest line at the spawn point loops cleanly and feeds both gold and crafting materials between ascension pushes.
Pair this with a wand upgrade from the Equipment Shop before each ascension. Moving from the Wingbird Wand (+20 Attack, +5% Attack Boost) up to the Demon Trident Wand (+30 Attack, +15% Attack Boost) shortens kill times enough to outpace the rising gold costs.

What Magic Ascension does not give you
Ascension only raises the level cap and stacks XP gain. It does not grant attack damage, HP, crit rate, or elemental bonuses on its own — those come from skill points earned on level-ups, race bonuses, wand and robe purchases, and wand enchantments. If your damage feels flat after ascending, the fix is reinvesting skill points, upgrading gear, or rolling better enchantments on your wand at the Enchanting Table near the Sea of Oblivion.
You will know an ascension worked when the stage name on your Stat panel updates, your level resets to 0, and the XP bar starts filling again from kills that had previously stopped giving experience. If the Upgrade button stays greyed out, the cause is almost always insufficient gold or a level that has not actually hit the cap yet.
