MW4 Pacifist Achievement and Trophy Guide for ‘Assassins’ (One Kill Only)

Pacifist is one of the hardest Gold trophies in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. It asks you to clear mission 8, Assassins, with exactly one kill to your name. That kill is scripted. Everything else is a long stealth run through a North Korean palace as Supreme Leader Seung-ho, with guards in the halls, a library, a kitchen, a garden, and a sniper over the lake. Very few players have it, and the unlock notification lists it as a rare achievement at 0.01 percent.

Quick answer: Play Assassins on Recruit, make only the forced takedown at the boardroom doors, sneak the rest of the way, and use codes 5523, 7632, and 9103 to reach the bunker.

Pacifist unlock conditions in Assassins

The in-game description reads “Complete ‘Assassins’ by only killing one enemy.” It is worth 50 Gamerscore on Xbox and is a Gold trophy on PlayStation. The rules are simple, even if the run is not.

Any difficulty works, but Recruit makes guards slower to spot you.
Your one kill is the takedown on the left-hand guard at the boardroom doors.
Kills made by your allies Ko, Shin, and Jang do not count against you.
Reloading a checkpoint is fine if a guard spots you or you slip up.
The campaign is single-player only, so there is no co-op help.

The bunker keypad takes its code in real time, so make sure nobody has noticed you before you start typing.

Assassins keypad door codes

Ko reads each code to you over the radio as you go, but having them ready saves time when guards are close. The codes stay the same from run to run.

Pacifist route: Palace halls to the boardroom

The first stretch is mostly escort work. Your allies handle the shooting, and your job is to stay hidden and not attack anyone.

Let your bodyguards, Shin and Jang, lead you through the initial corridors. Don’t attack anyone, even if hostiles pass by.

When Jang tells you to hide in the hallway lined with flowers, go prone under the display table on the right side. Stay there until Ko arrives and clears the room.

Follow Ko through the museum display hall while crouched or prone. Let him lead the way and keep your distance from any guards.

Climb out the window and shimmy along the outside ledge. Stop before the third window and wait for the hostile inside to walk past before moving on.

Go with your allies down the upper corridor to the glass security room. Stay outside as they clear it; afterward, pick up the earpiece on the desk and take the knife Ko hands you.

Escort Shin down the hall to the double doors of the boardroom. When the doors open, use the [RS] TAKEDOWN prompt on the guard to the left, and leave the other two to your allies. Shin goes down in this ambush, which is scripted.

From this point on, every enemy must stay alive. Any second kill ruins the run, so reload the last checkpoint if it happens.

Pacifist route: Library and kitchen

Now you’re alone, and the guards heard the gunshots. Ko keeps talking over the radio, but nobody is clearing rooms for you anymore.

Enter the library and stay close to the left wall. Go prone through the low gap under the bookshelves to reach the back corner.

Hide behind the staircase and wait for the guards to come down. Once they’ve passed, walk up the stairs to the service door.

Use the [X] KEYPAD prompt on the service door and enter 5523. The door opens onto a red-lit service corridor.

Follow the red corridor to its end and take the stairs down to the kitchen. You can pick up glass bottles from the crates by the kitchen doors to use as distractions.

Crouch behind the counters and crawl through the low cabinet gaps in the middle of the kitchen. Work your way to the far right corner so you never get close to the guards searching the room.

Go through the pantry to the exit door and enter 7632 on the keypad. This takes you out into the garden.

Pacifist route: Garden, lake, and bunker

The outdoor section has wide sightlines, searchlights, and a sniper in the gazebo. Water and hedges are your cover.

At the garden gate, peek around the frame and wait. Don’t move until the armored patrol on the path has walked off.

Crouch-walk through the hedges and along the gravel paths toward the pond. Stay out of the searchlights.

Dive into the pond and swim below the surface, passing under the central gazebo. Remaining submerged keeps the sniper from spotting you.

Come up on the far side near the statue. Crouch through the flowerbeds and curved hedges along the left side of the statue to its back.

At the rear of the statue’s base, look in the stone recess for the bunker hatch. Enter 9103, open the door, then climb down the ladder.

Sprint straight down the bunker tunnel to the double metal doors at the end. Ignore the shouting above you and keep running.

How to confirm Pacifist unlocked

The trophy pops when you push open the doors of the secure room at the end of the tunnel. Seung-ho thanks Ko by name, and a notification appears right away with the title “MW4 – Pacifist” and the line “Complete ‘Assassins’ by only killing one enemy.” If the run ends with no notification, you made a second kill somewhere along the route, and you’ll need to replay the mission from the start.
