The Witch’s Bakery: How to Unlock Every Recipe

All 15 breads, viennoiseries, and pastries for Le Croissant de Lunne, from Hassan's cookbooks to side-quest rewards and Chapter 5.

All 15 breads, viennoiseries, and pastries for Le Croissant de Lunne, from Hassan’s cookbooks to side-quest rewards and Chapter 5.

Le Croissant de Lunne opens with three recipes and ends with 15. The story hands you some of the others. The rest sit behind bookstall purchases, neighborhood conversations, and side quests that are easy to walk past. If you skip one of those, the menu stays incomplete and the Gastronomicon achievement (“Unlock all recipes. Bon appétit!”) stays locked.

Quick answer: Buy every recipe book from Hassan, keep talking to Mrs. Tessier, find Best on Rue des Barres, finish Orin’s wedding cake request, and play through Chapter 5. The story covers the rest.

The third starting recipe takes its name from a dialogue choice early in the game. Choose “Pain au chocolat” or “Chocolatine,” and the recipe book uses that name from then on. The recipe itself is the same either way.

Hassan’s recipe books

Hassan runs the bouquiniste stall along the Seine, and he accounts for most of the recipes you can miss. His recipe books work differently from the lore and fiction books in his stock. You don’t have to read them. The recipe joins your list as soon as you pay, and you can practice it in the Atelier that same evening.

  • Grapes of Alsace (15.00 €): Raisin Bread. You first find it for sale when you meet Hassan alongside Estelle.
  • Breads From Our Countryside: Country Bread
  • The Power of Grains: Multigrain Bread
  • The Parisian Flan: Flan

The Canele and the Mille-Feuille come from two more books, Jewels of Bordeaux and A Thousand Layers. These two are tied to reading the book, not just buying it. Read both after you buy them so you don’t have to guess which rule applies.

Hassan adds new books to his stall over time, so the full set is never on sale at once. Visit him at least once a week so a new arrival doesn’t slip by.

Recipes taught by characters around Paris

Three recipes come from people, not books. None of them show up as a main story objective, so you have to go looking.

Chausson Aux Pommes from Mrs. Tessier

Stop by Mrs. Tessier’s decor shop every day early in the game, while you’re still working through Estelle’s Palace. At some point she asks whether you make chaussons aux pommes, and that conversation unlocks the recipe. If you stop visiting her, the question never comes up.

Palmier from Best on Rue des Barres

Best’s Atelier is on Rue des Barres, but Best isn’t there when the street first opens up. Keep coming back until he’s standing outside his bakery. Talk to him then to learn the Palmier.

Fraisier from Orin’s wedding cake request

Later, Orin requests a wedding cake from you and Estelle. Delivering it unlocks the Fraisier; simply baking it does not.

Story recipes and when Pastries go on sale

You can’t miss these three, but each has its own timing.

  • Braided Brioche: Near 4/10, Orio requests a practice session in the Atelier when you turn in for the night. It becomes available for purchase the next day.
  • Chocolate Fondant: You bake it with Estelle at her apartment during her chapter. It reaches the bakery only once Pastries open up.
  • Macaron: Unlocks during Chapter 5.

The Pastry category stays locked in the shop until you complete Estelle’s Palace. Lunne doesn’t bake Pastries herself during service. You still have to collect their recipes and practice them in the Atelier, just like the breads and viennoiserie.

How to confirm a recipe unlocked

Each new recipe shows up in the recipe notebook under its tab: Bread, Viennoiserie, Pastry, or Cake. It starts at Level 1 of 3, with its baking time and sale price listed. A recipe that unlocks during the day can be practiced in the Atelier that evening. Once all 15 entries are filled in, Gastronomicon pops. Fewer than 1 percent of Steam players have it so far.

Unlocking every recipe doesn’t finish the job if you’re also chasing the related achievements. Cooking Adventure asks you to bake each recipe at least once. Meilleure Ouvrière de France asks you to bring every recipe to Level 3 in the Atelier, either alone in the evenings or alongside Estelle, Kei, or Best.
