The Hidden Maze island in The Forge turns a straightforward mining game into a daily puzzle run. At the center of it sits the angel room, home to the angelic questline and the Heavenly Pickaxe, one of the strongest tools currently available. Reaching that room reliably means understanding how the maze island works, how to pay your way across, and how the maze layout routes you toward both Fungi’s Shop and the angel NPCs.
Access the Hidden Maze island
The maze is not on the starting island in Stonewake’s Cross. It sits on a separate landmass you can only reach by ferry, and the ferry runs on a special currency called Coinite rather than gold.
There is no way to bypass the Coinite requirement. If you do not have Coinite yet, you need to mine it first and then return to the dock.

Coinite comes from red crystals rather than normal stone or ice. Treat it as a side resource farm that you do before or between maze runs.

With steady Raven Cave farming, it is easy to keep a small stockpile of Coinite so you are not blocked from daily maze resets.
Understand how the Hidden Maze works
The Hidden Maze is designed as a repeatable, changing activity rather than a fixed one-time puzzle. A few structural rules stay constant, and these matter when you are trying to reach the angel room efficiently.
- Daily reset: The maze layout changes every day. Corridors, dead ends, and junctions shift, so a path that works one day may not match exactly on the next.
- Internal shop rotation: A special NPC shop inside the maze refreshes its inventory regularly. The Fungi’s Shop selection and some enemy placements can change from run to run.
- Quest and progression hub: Many of the maze’s best rewards are gated behind NPCs rather than simple chests, including the angel room quests that unlock the Heavenly Pickaxe.
That shifting structure makes the maze more like a daily roguelike route than a static dungeon. You are aiming for two anchor points: Fungi’s Shop and the angel room branching beyond it.

Follow a reliable maze path toward the angel room
The exact walls change, but the maze uses a consistent directional logic that lets you steer from the entrance toward key areas. A simple route helps you bypass early dead ends and reach the maze’s inner fork, where the Fungi and angel areas split.

After this sequence you reach an important fork:
- The path straight ahead leads into Fungi’s Shop and its surrounding area.
- The path off to the right leads toward the angel room and Heavenly Pickaxe NPCs.
Fungi’s Shop and the angel area are close neighbors in the maze layout. It is often worth stopping at Fungi first before committing to the angel quests, especially if you need potions or a temporary power spike.
Use Fungi’s Shop to power up
Fungi’s Shop is the maze’s built-in vendor hub, and its stock is tuned around high-level mining and combat. Inventory rotates every few hours, and weapon variants differ in strength even when they share a name, so it is worth checking silhouettes and stat rolls carefully before buying.
Key items include:
- Fungi’s Potion for 17,000 gold, which boosts mining speed, mining damage, and luck for a 600-second window. This single consumable is tuned for short, high-yield farming bursts, making it ideal before tackling dense crystal clusters or difficult rocks.
- Several weapons with hidden recipes, such as Executioner Great Axe, Shark’s Fang, Crystallized Broadsword, and Anchor Straight Blade. These introduce additional crafting paths and give you more options for pairing runes and perks with your build.
The shop refreshes roughly every five hours. Because variants matter, treat the silhouettes and stat spreads as an early filter; do not buy solely on name if the underlying roll is weaker than your current gear.

Reach the angel room
The angel room lives deeper in the maze beyond the Fungi fork. It is gated behind a pair of angelic NPCs and serves as the unlock point for the Heavenly Pickaxe.

Inside this chamber, you find two angel-themed NPCs. They both tie into the same angelic questline and ultimately control access to the Heavenly Pickaxe.

Unlock the Heavenly Pickaxe in the angel room
The Heavenly Pickaxe is the maze update’s headlining tool. It is expensive and quest-gated, but its stats justify the investment for anyone focused on late-game mining and rune optimization.
| Stat | Heavenly Pickaxe |
|---|---|
| Mine Power | 725 |
| Luck Boost | 85% |
| Rune Slots | 4 |
| Gold Cost | 2.4 million |
The four rune slots and large luck bonus make the Heavenly Pickaxe a natural endpoint for high-level mining setups, especially if you already invest in rare mining and luck runes from bosses and events.

Maze update rock and enemy changes to plan around
The Hidden Maze update does more than add a new island. It quietly reshapes how fast you can break certain rocks and how dangerous some enemy types are. These changes matter once you have the Heavenly Pickaxe and start pushing new farming routes.
Many ice and red crystal health values have been reduced. For example, icy rocks drop from around 2,400 HP to 2,000 HP, and large ice crystals fall from roughly 27,000 HP to 18,000 HP. Red crystals follow a similar trend, with large red crystals moving from roughly 32,000 HP to 22,000 HP. The practical outcome is simple: high-power pickaxes clear crystals noticeably faster, especially when combined with race bonuses and potions.
New enemies also arrive alongside the maze:
- Skeleton Pirate with roughly 7,000–10,000 HP, tuned as a sturdier standard enemy.
- Cthulhu-style mini-bosses around 13,000 HP, which function as heavier combat checks and bring new weapon recipes.
The angel room does not exist in isolation. Once you unlock the Heavenly Pickaxe and start experimenting with Fungi’s potion, the reduced crystal health and tougher enemies shift the broader economy of mining and combat across the game.
The Hidden Maze island turns The Forge into a loop of ferry runs, direction checks, and tightly tuned rewards. Once you know to farm Coinite in Raven Cave, pay the dock NPC, hug east through the changing corridors, cut into Fungi’s Shop, and then follow the right-hand fork toward the angel room, the update stops feeling opaque and becomes a predictable part of your daily routine. The angel quests and the Heavenly Pickaxe sit at the center of that loop, and everything else in the maze — potions, weapons, reduced rock health, and new enemies — is built to feed into that climb.
