Picking a race in VV ULTIMATUM shapes your entire run, from how fast you progress to which weapons and abilities you can reach. The three options are Quincy, Arrancar, and Shinigami (Soul Reaper), and they currently sit at different power levels. If you want the smoothest path to a strong character, the choice is clear once you know how each race plays.
Quick answer: Choose Quincy if you want the easiest progression and strong early performance. Pick Arrancar only if you want the deepest customization and accept a longer grind.

VV ULTIMATUM race rankings
Each race follows a completely separate progression path, so the “best” pick depends on whether you value speed, depth, or future potential. In the current version, Quincy leads, Arrancar trails closely on flexibility, and Shinigami sits behind because several of its systems are not in the game yet.
| Race | Tier | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Quincy | S | New players, fast progression, ranged combat |
| Arrancar | A | Deep customization, long-term builds |
| Shinigami | B | Players who enjoy a harder challenge |

Add to Google Preferences →Quincy: the easiest and strongest starting race
Quincy is the most beginner-friendly race and the easiest to recommend overall. Progression is straightforward, and the race performs well in PvE while offering powerful ranged options from the start.
The biggest edge is weapon selection. Where the other races often rely on rolls for certain weapon outcomes, Quincy lets you pick your weapon directly early on. That gives you full control over your build, and the Gun, Rapier, and Excalibur are commonly recommended choices.
Quincy Bloods add another layer. You choose between a damage-focused blood type or a defense-focused one. If you trust your combat skills, the damage option pays off; if you are still learning, the defensive route adds survivability.
The trade-off is fewer progression stages than Arrancar and less long-term race customization. For most players, that is a fair price for a clean, reliable leveling path.

Arrancar: the most customizable race
Arrancar offers the deepest build system in the game thanks to Hollow progression. You begin as a Hollow and evolve through multiple stages before reaching your final form, gaining Hollow Traits along the way that keep affecting your character later.
Those traits drive the customization. An Adjuchar can hold three Hollow Traits, while a Vastocar can hold four, which leaves a lot of room to shape your strengths. Arrancars also gain Hierro for better durability and have strong Resurrección abilities.
The downside is the grind. Going from Fishbone Hollow all the way to Vasto Lorde takes far more effort than simply rolling Quincy and leveling normally, and the early game can feel overwhelming for newcomers. Players who enjoy progression systems and long-term character building tend to find the payoff worth it.

Shinigami (Soul Reaper): the hardest current path
Soul Reaper is the toughest race to recommend for a brand-new player right now. Its standout perk is the ability to use Shikai abilities while staying in base form, so you do not always need to activate Shikai to access those skills. It also has multiple weapon options.
The problem is missing content and difficult progression. Systems like Vizard progression are not in the game yet, which leaves the race feeling unfinished next to the others. The Shikai stage is also a known wall, with some players spending hours on the Shikai fight before clearing it.
Soul Reaper is not weak. Skilled players can compete with Quincies and Arrancars, but you generally have to work harder for the same results. It suits dedicated fans who want a challenge rather than a first character.

How to choose your race
Match the race to what you actually want from your time in the game. The summary below maps each option to a player type so you can commit before the tutorial ends.
- Pick Quincy if this is your first character or you want strong ranged power and the fastest progression.
- Pick Arrancar if you enjoy long progression, Hollow Traits, and shaping a highly customized build.
- Pick Shinigami if you are a Soul Reaper fan who does not mind a harder grind and waiting on future systems.
Note: Clans tie into your race, and you can reroll them, so a strong race choice still leaves room to chase the clan that fits your build. Future updates could shift the balance, especially once Soul Reaper systems like Vizard progression arrive, but for now Quincy remains the safest pick for raw efficiency.
