Every requirement and action needed to finish the Lava Temple puzzle and claim its reward.

The Lava Temple is one of the longer building puzzles in Virtual Villagers, and it locks behind a fire-breathing dragon, several skill thresholds, and a large resource cost. Finishing it takes a set order of spiritual actions, crafting, and construction, with no room to skip steps. Work through the requirements below in sequence and your villagers will rebuild the temple and hand you the reward.

Quick answer: Put out the dragon’s fire with Rainstorm, clear the dragon with Fog of Doom, craft 10 obsidian blocks into a heat-blocking wall (construction level 4), have a master spiritualist pray at the wall (spirituality level 3), draw torch plans with a master scientist (research level 4), then place warm-dressed villagers on the temple to build it using 15,000 wood and 12,000 rocks.

Lava Temple requirements before you start

The puzzle gates each stage behind a skill level or a stockpile, so check these first. Missing any single requirement stalls the whole sequence.

How to complete the Lava Temple puzzle

Use the Rainstorm spiritual attack on the dragon to put out its fire. This is the opening action and has to happen before anything else near the temple.
Use the Fog of Doom spiritual attack to clear the dragon away. With the dragon gone, you can move villagers toward the lava temple safely.
Craft the obsidian blocks that act as the heat blocker. The obsidian sits directly to the left of the clothing hut, just across the lava flow. Take it to the crafting hut and combine fire and obsidian there. You need 10 obsidian blocks in total for the wall.
Build the wall once you have construction level 4. Drop a master builder onto the obsidian block pile that your villagers gathered at the front left of the lava temple. Keep placing the master builder back on the pile until the wall is finished.
Place a master spiritualist on the finished lava wall to start praying. This requires spirituality level 3 to take effect.
Send a master scientist to the drawing and planning board to draw the plans for the torches on the lava temple. You need research level 4 to draw these plans.
Place villagers wearing warm weather clothes on the lava temple to begin the rebuild. Builders are the most reliable because they are more likely to stay on task. The full rebuild costs 15,000 wood and 12,000 rocks, so make sure both stockpiles are ready before you start.

How to know the Lava Temple is finished

The temple build takes time even after every requirement is met, so leave your villagers working and keep an eye on the wood and rock totals draining. Once the villagers complete the construction, the puzzle resolves and you earn the reward. If the build stalls, it is almost always because a villager wandered off or a stockpile ran short, so reassign warm-dressed builders and top up wood or rocks to push it to completion.
