Experimental Hogyoku Shards are the specific resource that rerolls your weapon form in VV: Ultimatum, meaning your Shikai, Schrift, or Resurrección appearance. They are different from the ability-type rerolls that change your power category, and you cannot pull them straight out of mission chests. You make them through a Hogyoku.

Quick answer: Farm regular Hogyoku Shards from high-difficulty mission chests and Rift chests, craft a Hogyoku at a crafting station, then select wish #2 to receive seven Experimental Hogyoku Shards. Spend those shards to reroll your race weapon form.

What Experimental Hogyoku Shards do

These shards reroll the weapon form tied to your race power. That covers the Shikai, Schrift, or Resurrección weapon appearance. They do not change your ability type, and they do not touch your stats or skill tree. If you want a different power category instead, that is a separate roll handled by a different Hogyoku wish.

Note: a weapon form reroll is cosmetic to your race weapon, while ability type rerolls (Shikai/Schrift/Res) are a different option entirely. Keep the two apart so you do not waste resources expecting the wrong outcome.

How to get Experimental Hogyoku Shards

You earn Experimental Hogyoku Shards by crafting a regular Hogyoku first and then claiming the correct wish. There is no mission that drops the experimental version directly.

Farm regular Hogyoku Shards. Run high-difficulty missions and open their reward chests, since higher mission tiers carry better drop rates. Rift chests have the highest shard chance in the game, so prioritize Rift routes when you can.
Collect enough shards and visit a crafting station to forge a Hogyoku. The tutorial boss Gelum also drops a Hogyoku fragment, which is handy for building up an early stock.
Use the Hogyoku and choose wish #2. This grants seven Experimental Hogyoku Shards in one go.
Spend the experimental shards to reroll your weapon form. The reroll changes the Shikai, Schrift, or Resurrección appearance attached to your power.

All seven Hogyoku wishes

When you use a Hogyoku, it opens seven wish options. Wish #2 is the only one that gives Experimental Hogyoku Shards, so pick carefully.

WishEffect
1Relocate build points (stat reset)
2Seven Experimental Hogyoku Shards (weapon form reroll)
3Seven ability rolls (Shikai/Schrift/Res type reroll)
4About 5,000 tokens
5Reroll all four Hollow traits
6Ultimate mastery on one technique
7Refund toolbar skills (partial skill reset)

Redeem a code for free shards

You can also pick up Experimental Hogyoku Shards from an active code without crafting a Hogyoku. The code SDFIX rewards 5x Experimental Hogyoku Shards and 3x Reiatsu Color Reroll. Codes are case-sensitive, so type it exactly in uppercase or the redemption fails with no clear error.

Join the Midnight Continent group on Roblox from the game’s launch page before you load in. The group check is the part that trips most players up.
Load the game and finish the tutorial. The Shop button only appears in the top-right corner after the tutorial is complete.
Open the Shop with the cart icon, go to the Codes tab, and verify your group membership using the button in the middle of that screen.
Enter SDFIX in the box and hit Redeem. The shards and rerolls drop into your inventory. Codes can expire without warning, so claim it sooner rather than later.

How to know the reroll worked

After you spend Experimental Hogyoku Shards, your weapon form updates to a new appearance for your Shikai, Schrift, or Resurrección. Rerolls are random, so you may need several attempts before you land the look you want. If your ability type stayed the same and only the weapon changed, the reroll behaved correctly. To swap the ability category itself, use Hogyoku wish #3 instead, which is a separate process.

Game mechanics in VV: Ultimatum can shift with updates, so wish numbering and drop rates may change after a patch. The core flow stays the same: build a Hogyoku from farmed shards, take wish #2, then reroll your weapon form.
