Catch them free during the nighttime Rainbow Event and plant them for a 15x value boost on any crop.

Catch them free during the nighttime Rainbow Event and plant them for a 15x value boost on any crop.

Rainbow seeds are among the most valuable things you can collect in Grow a Garden 2, and unlike the first game, you do not need to spend Robux to get them. They fall from the sky during a special weather event and can be picked up for free, which makes them one of the fastest ways to boost your earnings.

Quick answer: Rainbow seeds drop only during the Rainbow Event, which triggers at night. When the on-screen notification appears, run to any seeds that land on the ground and press E to pick them up before other players reach them. Public servers drop more seeds than private ones.

What rainbow seeds do in Grow a Garden 2

When you plant a rainbow seed and let it grow, it produces a rainbow plant. Rainbow fruit carries a 15x value multiplier, so a single rainbow harvest sells for many times more than the same crop in its normal form. Filling your plot with rainbow plants turns every harvest into a high-value payout, and stacking several of them together multiplies the effect across your whole garden.

The catch is that a rainbow seed can grow into any plant in the game. You might get something as basic as a Carrot or as rare as a Dragon’s Breath, so there is always a roll of chance built into what you actually end up with.

How to get rainbow seeds during the Rainbow Event

Rainbow seeds only appear during the Rainbow Event, a weather event that occurs during the night cycle. While it is active, seeds have a small chance to rain down across the map, and you collect them by hand before they vanish or someone else grabs them.

Wait for the Rainbow Event to begin at night. Keep an eye out for the text notification that pops up on screen when the event starts so you can move the moment it triggers.
Watch for rainbow seeds falling from the sky. They can land anywhere on the map, so keep moving and scan the ground rather than staying in one spot.
Run to each seed and press E to pick it up. Several seeds can drop in a single event, so you can collect more than one if you are quick.

The event window lasts about two minutes, so speed matters. Once it ends, you will have to wait for the next Rainbow Event to roll around.

Public servers vs private servers

Where you play changes how many seeds you can get. Public servers have noticeably higher spawn rates, and multiple seeds can drop inside the two-minute window. Private servers see far fewer drops. The trade-off on a public server is competition, since other players are racing you to the same seeds.

Server typeSeed spawn rateMain drawback
PublicHigher; multiple seeds per eventYou compete with other players
PrivateNoticeably lowerFewer seeds overall

Note: On public servers, other players can use gear and tricks to knock you down and steal seeds before you reach them. Move directly to each drop and grab it fast.

Gold seeds work the same way

There is a matching golden event that drops gold seeds using the exact same mechanic. Like rainbow seeds, gold seeds grow a random crop from the seed shop, and that crop can be single-harvest or multi-harvest. Both sell for far more than ordinary plants, so collecting either type is a reliable way to earn Sheckles quickly.

You know the pickup worked when the seed lands in your inventory and you can plant it on your plot. From there, let it grow as normal, and the resulting rainbow plant carries the 15x multiplier when you harvest and sell it.
