Traits in Anime Squadron are passive bonuses you attach to your Units to push their stats higher. Each Unit can carry one Trait, and every Trait has its own rarity and effect, so the one you land changes how much extra damage, HP, range, or cost reduction a Unit gets.

Quick answer: Collect Trait Shards from the Story game mode, then take them to the Trait Roll NPC at the Upgrades waypoint. One Trait Shard equals one reroll.

There are 14 Traits in total. Common ones sit at a 20% chance and give a single 10% boost, while the rarest, Superior, lands at just 0.1% and stacks four separate bonuses. The table below shows every Trait, its roll chance, and the exact effect it applies.

How to roll for Traits in Anime Squadron

Rolling is the only way to assign a Trait, and the result is random within the rarity weights listed above. You’ll need Trait Shards before you can reroll, and each one buys you a single attempt.

Play the Story game mode to farm Trait Shards. These are the currency the roll system runs on, so build up a stack before you head out to reroll.
Travel to the Upgrades waypoint and find the Trait Roll NPC standing there. This is the only spot where rolling happens.

Spend Trait Shards to reroll. One Shard equals one roll, and the Trait you receive replaces whatever was equipped before. Keep rolling until you land a Trait you want to keep.

Which Traits are worth chasing

Because rolls are random, the practical plan is to keep rerolling and stop on the strongest result you can get. The three 20% Traits (Endure, Sight, Powerful) each add a flat 10% to a single stat, which is fine as a filler but easy to replace.

The high-end Traits change how a Unit performs, not just its numbers. Superior is the rarest at 0.1% and the most impactful, stacking +200% DMG, +300% HP, +30% RNG, and -15% CD on one Unit. Cloner spawns a second Unit, Rebirth brings a Unit back once at half HP, and Entrepreneur and Wealthy cut placement cost so you can flood the board faster. If you have Shards to burn, those are the results worth holding out for.

Note: A new roll overwrites your current Trait, so once you hit something rare like Cloner or Superior, stop spending Shards on that Unit to avoid replacing it.
