Ten beach costumes drop in waves from June 19, with up to 2,500 free units to claim during the event.

Marvel Rivals is turning its tactical shooter into a beach party again. The Summer Festival 2026 arrives during Season 8.5 with ten new Swimsuit Special costumes, a fresh social hub called Hellfire Bay Beach, and a stack of free in-game currency you can grab just by logging in. The skins don’t all land on day one, though. They roll out in three waves through late June and early July, so timing matters if you want to spend your units wisely.

Quick answer: The Summer Festival starts June 18, 2026. Log in daily and clear event challenges to earn up to 2,500 free units, then buy the store swimsuit skins as each wave goes live, or unlock the three Krakoan Reels Event Pass costumes. The first store skins (Emma Frost, Doctor Strange) and all three pass skins arrive June 19.

Marvel Rivals Summer Festival 2026 start date

Season 8.5 itself went live on June 12, 2026, adding Cyclops as the 51st hero, the K’un-Lun: Shenloong Arena map, and the 18v18 Bounty Annihilation mode. The summer content follows a few days later. The Rivals’ Summer Festival opens on June 18, and none of the swimsuit costumes were available on the Season 8.5 launch day, so the festival window is the one to watch.

The event runs as several activities happening at the same time, including the X-Press Juice event, the Tandem Tides event, the Pop & Win event, and the Krakoan Reels Event Pass. An official end date has not been confirmed yet.

Hellfire Bay Beach social hub

The festival adds Hellfire Bay Beach, a new social hub map that temporarily takes over from Times Square as the hangout space. This is where you gather between matches and take part in the summer activities, including the daily check-ins and mini-events tied to the festival.

How to earn up to 2,500 free units

The festival hands out enough free currency to cover at least one store skin without spending real money. You collect up to 2,500 units in total through two routes that run during the event.

Log in each day after the festival opens on June 18 and claim your daily login rewards. These rewards stack over the event, so skipping days lowers your final total.
Visit the X-Press Juice Bar at Hellfire Bay Beach for the daily check-in. The X-Press Juice event alone gives you 1,500 temporary units across its check-ins, which counts toward the overall pool.

Complete the Summer Festival event challenges as they unlock. Each finished challenge adds to your unit total.
Spend your units in the store on the swimsuit costume you want most. Because the store skins arrive across three dates, plan around which hero you are saving for so the currency is ready when that wave drops. You will know it worked when your unit balance climbs after claiming rewards, and when the purchased costume appears in that hero’s wardrobe ready to equip.

All Summer Festival 2026 swimsuit skins and release dates

Ten heroes get Swimsuit Special costumes this year. Seven are direct store purchases and three are tied to the Krakoan Reels Event Pass. The store skins arrive in batches across roughly a three-week period. Here is the full schedule and how each one unlocks.

Pop & Win event skins

The Pop & Win event covers the two launch-day store costumes, Emma Frost’s White Wave Queen and Doctor Strange’s Nautical Mystic. You spend units to pop balloons, and each costume has its own set of six balloons, with every balloon holding its own reward. Popping a balloon from one costume’s set drops a 50% discount on the matching balloon in the other set, so working through both at once is the cheaper path.

Krakoan Reels Event Pass skins

The Krakoan Reels Event Pass works like a battle pass. You play matches and earn experience to climb through the tiers, and it holds three of the ten swimsuit costumes. Mister Fantastic’s swimsuit is the free reward on the pass, mirroring last year’s setup where Thor’s Worthy Waves unlocked free at level 14 just for playing. The Spider-Man and Cloak & Dagger costumes sit on the same pass but require the premium track.

Note: Cloak & Dagger always count as one costume for both halves of the pair, so the premium unlock dresses both characters in matching seashell attire with contrasting bathing suits.

Tandem Tides co-op event

Tandem Tides is the festival’s team activity. You invite friends and complete missions together to unlock rewards. The full reward list will fill out as the event progresses past launch.

616 Day Vault brings back 2025 swimsuit skins

If you missed last year’s beach costumes, the 616 Day Vault reopens for a limited window and runs through June 26. It brings back limited-time costumes and events from the earlier seasonal rotation, including the previous Swimsuit Special items and the classic Loki summer costume. Once the vault closes, these have no confirmed return date, so treat June 26 as a hard deadline and check the vault tabs before you spend your new units.

What else is in Season 8.5

The Summer Festival isn’t the only thing running. The Shenloong Tournament event launched on June 12 alongside Cyclops and the new arena map. Beyond the ten confirmed swimsuit costumes, more designs are being held in reserve, so the lineup may grow later in the summer. For now, the second store wave brings Black Widow and Daredevil on June 26, and the final batch of Lady Loki, White Fox, and Captain America lands on July 3.

The smart play is simple. Start banking free units the moment the festival opens, decide which heroes you actually care about, and line up your purchases with each costume’s release date so nothing slips past before the waves close out in early July.
