Kowakujō is the next round-based Zombies map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, set inside the ruined Masaki family castle and built around active volcanoes. The crew fights across pools of lava to reach the keep, facing dragons and a new Oni enemy type while the map’s signature Wonder Weapon stays hidden until you find it in-game.
Quick answer: Kowakujō launches with the Season 4 Reloaded update on June 25, and its new Wonder Weapon is intentionally unrevealed. You unlock it by playing the map yourself rather than following a pre-published reveal.
The secret Wonder Weapon on Kowakujō
Treyarch is withholding the Wonder Weapon’s identity ahead of launch, which breaks from how earlier Black Ops 7 maps handled their signature guns. Past maps revealed their Wonder Weapon before release, so players already knew what they were chasing. For Kowakujō, the form of the weapon is left for you to discover during play.
Send the flaming undead back to their graves with a mystical new Wonder Weapon. What form will it take? Discover for yourself when Season Four Reloaded begins.
That is the full extent of the official tease. The weapon is described as supernatural and tied to the map’s fiery, volcanic setting, but no name, model, or build path has been shared. Expect a race among players to map out the Easter egg quest and its weapon steps on day one.
What Kowakujō adds beyond the Wonder Weapon
The map continues the Dark Aether story directly after the events of Totenreich. It centers on Takeo Masaki and his family’s past, with the castle structure split apart by lava that cuts off paths and forces you to navigate around the hazard. Rising ash and shifting environmental dangers shape how rounds play out.
Alongside the new Wonder Weapon, the map brings a new “hellish” GobbleGum called Hellping Hound and fresh enemies, including the Oni type and the returning dragon threat. Treyarch dedicated Kowakujō to Tom Kane, the longtime voice of Takeo, who died earlier in the year.

When Kowakujō releases
Kowakujō arrives as part of Season 4 Reloaded on June 25 for both Black Ops 7 and Warzone. The map is the second-to-last Zombies map planned for the game, with the final map confirmed to follow in a later update as the story moves toward its climax.
You can grab the game and check platform details on the official Black Ops 7 page. The mid-season update also includes two new weapons, among them the AN-94 assault rifle, plus Endgame changes, new multiplayer maps such as the remastered Launch, limited-time events, and fresh weapon camos.
Note: The Wonder Weapon will not appear on any pre-launch reveal. The first confirmation of its form comes from playing Kowakujō once the update goes live.
