Chapter 5 of Deltarune is live, picking up Kris, Susie, and Ralsei’s story right where Chapter 4 left off. You can carry over your previous save or start clean, and the opening eases you back in with a quiet morning at home before the party slides down into a flower-themed Dark World called the Field of Pink and Gold.
Quick answer: Make honey toast using the toaster and wait about 10 seconds, hand it to Toriel, then walk to the school and step through the black door to enter the Dark World, where Ralsei and Lancer are waiting.
Before you start Chapter 5
Chapter 5 is a free update for everyone who already owns the paid version of Deltarune, and it launched worldwide at once on June 24, 2026 at 11:00am EDT across PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PS4, and PS5. If the new chapter is not showing up, update the game on your platform first.
You can begin a fresh file, but Chapter 5 continues the events of the earlier chapters directly. If you want the Weird Route to carry forward, you need a save that completed Chapter 4’s alternate path.
Hometown opening: Make honey toast and reach the school
The chapter opens with your character dropping into the room and grabbing the first heart. From there it’s a short morning routine before you can leave the house.

Dark World: The castle climb puzzle
Inside the castle you run into your first real obstacle, a vertical wall puzzle that tests timing more than logic.

Design Susie’s dress and furnish Ralsei’s room
After shopping, the next stretch is light on combat and built around a couple of choice-driven scenes.

You’ll know each beat landed when the party composition updates and the followers fall in line behind you, ready for the deeper Dark World areas ahead.
What’s ahead in the Field of Pink and Gold
Beyond the opening, Chapter 5 leans hard into a flower garden setting. Expect large flower stems the party slides down on, a pond overgrown with plants, and traditional Japanese-style buildings dotted with NPCs and shops. The Light World side also features a festival in Hometown that takes place on a Sunday.
Combat introduces some new wrinkles too. Flower enemies use triangular petal attacks, one flower pot-like foe covers the entire bullet board with a painting, and there’s a standout Kris-only battle whose bullet pattern echoes the Omega Flowey fight from Undertale. Collecting five Shadow Crystals across chapters also lets Seam craft something special.
Bosses to expect in Chapter 5
| Encounter | What to know |
|---|---|
| Asgore Dreemurr | The strongly indicated main boss, tied to the prophecy tapestry naming pattern. Fire and flower themed, with multiple phases likely. |
| Kris’s solo opponent | A one-on-one fight with no party support and complex Omega Flowey-style bullet patterns. Focus on precise movement. |
| Secret boss | Identity unknown, tied to the continuing Weird Route from Chapter 4. Expect unique mechanics and demanding patterns. |
That’s the full opening, from honey toast to your first proper party of the chapter. The deeper garden sections, festival events, and boss fights pick up from here as you guide Kris, Susie, and Noelle further into the Field of Pink and Gold.
