Chapter 6 arrives as a free update. If you already own the paid version of Deltarune, the chapter unlocks for you automatically the moment it goes live, with no extra purchase. Development progress so far
Work on Chapter 6 was already underway for most of the team by mid-March 2026, after development on Chapter 5 wrapped. Toby Fox has said the chapter is progressing well and is actually easier to build than earlier chapters, which is speeding things up.

What to expect from the tone and story
Chapter 6 is shaping up to be darker than Chapter 5. In the Chapter 5 release announcement, Fox framed the next stretch as “one more fun adventure” before the sun “goes down completely,” using the sun as a contrast to the “dark clouds on the horizon” teased in Chapter 4. The ending of Chapter 5 also implies that Noelle visits Castle Town heading into this chapter.
Note: The Weird Route is expected to skip Chapter 6 entirely, based on how Chapter 5’s portion of that route plays out.
