Battening Down is one of Apollo’s opening assignments on the new Riven Tides map in Arc Raiders, and it sends raiders along the northern coastline to document storm damage left by the hurricanes battering the Rust Belt. Three short objectives, no items required in your inventory, and you can knock them out in any order.

What you need before heading out
Battening Down is given by Apollo on Riven Tides and has no extraction requirement, meaning nothing has to leave the map with you. A free kit is enough. The entire route stays on the outer northern strip of the map, which tends to be quieter than the central zones, but it is not safe by default.
The three objectives can be completed in a single raid or split across multiple runs. There is no time limit and no “complete in one raid” condition.

| Objective | Area | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Photograph the cracks in the seawall | Wavebreaker, north-central / northeast | Interact to take a photo |
| Fix the leaking oil pipe | Far northeast, end of the Wavebreaker | Interact to weld the pipe |
| Sample the shoreline near the hotel beach | Azzurro Beach, northwest | Interact with a seaweed pile |
If you spawn on the eastern side of the map, do the seawall photo and oil pipe first since they sit close together. Spawning west, hit Azzurro Beach first and sweep east along the coast.
Photograph the cracks in the seawall
The seawall objective points to the Wavebreaker, the long defensive wall running along the northern coast of Riven Tides. There are reportedly multiple valid spots, but the most reliable one sits at the northern tip of the structure on its eastern half.

Fix the leaking oil pipe in the northeast
From the seawall photo location, the oil pipe is a short hop east. There is no named point of interest here, just two large pipes emerging from the ocean and running down toward the beach.

Sample the shoreline near the hotel beach
The seaweed sample sits on the opposite side of the map, near Hotel Panorama Azzurro and Azzurro Beach in the northwest. This is the longest leg of the trip if you started in the northeast.

How to know it worked and how to claim the reward
Each objective updates in the quest tracker the moment you interact with the correct prompt. Once all three are checked, extract from any of the elevator points on Riven Tides and head back to Speranza. Speak with Apollo to close out the quest.
Apollo hands over the following on completion:
- Riven Tides Hotel Keycard No. 107
- Smoke Grenade Trap (x3)
The Hotel Keycard No. 107 is the more meaningful reward, since it unlocks a specific room in the hotel complex on Riven Tides and feeds into later questing on the map.

Common reasons the objective doesn’t trigger
- Standing on the wrong section of the Wavebreaker. The photo prompt only appears at the northern tip near the shipping container, not at every cracked-looking wall surface.
- Approaching the oil pipes from the upper end. The repair prompt is at the southern end, where the oil spill is visible on the sand.
- Picking the wrong patch of beach debris. The sample is taken from a seaweed pile, specifically, on the stretch of shore north of Hotel Panorama Azzurro.
- Forgetting to talk to Apollo back in Speranza. The rewards do not auto-deliver. The conversation is what closes the quest.
With all three coastal stops cleared and Apollo paid a visit, Battening Down is done, and the keycard slots straight into your kit for the rest of the Riven Tides content.
