Every endgame mode in Honkai Star Rail wipes your progress and hands out a fresh set of rewards when a new version arrives, and 4.4 is no different. The catch is that Anomaly Arbitration, Apocalyptic Shadow, Pure Fiction, and Memory of Chaos do not all reset on the same day. Each one refreshes on its own date across the patch, so knowing the timing lets you finish an outgoing cycle before it disappears.
Quick answer: In version 4.4, Anomaly Arbitration resets on July 15, Apocalyptic Shadow on July 20, Pure Fiction on August 3, and Memory of Chaos on August 17, 2026.

The four modes are spread across the patch so there is always an active challenge to run. Anomaly Arbitration refreshes first, right at the version launch on July 15. Apocalyptic Shadow follows about a week later, then Pure Fiction opens roughly two weeks after that, and Memory of Chaos resets near the end of the cycle in mid-August.
When a mode resets, your prior clear records for it are wiped and the enemy lineup changes. You will need to rebuild teams around the new weaknesses for each stage rather than reusing your old clears.
Anomaly Arbitration unlock requirements
Anomaly Arbitration is the newest and toughest of the four modes, and it is gated behind the others. Even though it refreshes on July 15, you can only enter it if you have already met its unlock conditions. It runs across three “Knight” stages and one “King in Check” stage, and unlike the rest, it does not award any Stellar Jade.
To open the mode, you need one instance of each of the following in your historical clear records.
- A 3-star clear of Memory of Chaos Stage 12
- A 3-star clear of Pure Fiction Stage 4
- A 3-star clear of Apocalyptic Shadow at Difficulty 4
If you have not cleared all three, Anomaly Arbitration stays locked until you do. Its rewards include Lone Stardust, Interference Keys, Self-Modeling Resin, and limited-time avatar frames that also reset at the end of the version.
Stellar Jade and bonus rewards in each cycle
The three Stellar Jade modes are worth clearing again after every reset, since your progress zeroes out and the rewards become claimable a second time. Apocalyptic Shadow, Pure Fiction, and Memory of Chaos all include a Starward mode stage with extra payouts on top of the base rewards.
Pure Fiction hands out 800 Stellar Jade when you three-star every stage. Clearing its final Starward stage adds another 100 Stellar Jade, 100 Jade Feather, and some Credits. Apocalyptic Shadow rewards you with extra Stellar Jade, Jade Feather, and Credits, plus a limited-time clearance medal, when you earn the Prismatic Star by completing Stage 4 in Starward mode.
Memory of Chaos spans 12 stages of rising difficulty and refreshes last, on August 17. Because the enemy lineup shifts with the new cycle, build each floor’s team around the featured bosses’ weaknesses before you challenge it.
You will know a reset has landed when your clear records for that mode show as empty and the reward tracker resets to zero. Run each mode before its next refresh so you do not leave any Stellar Jade or materials unclaimed.
