Where Winds Meet: Second Wind Injustice Quest Walkthrough

Second Wind is an Injustice quest set in Kaifeng City, and it follows Chen Cheng, a man found lingering at the water’s edge as if he means to end his life. Your job is to intervene each time he reappears, track down his family, and finally get him to stay put long enough to talk. The whole sequence uses one skill on repeat and takes you across several riverside spots in Kaifeng.

Quick answer: Unlock Second Wind by finishing Tale of Gold Leaves: Volume II, then approach Chen Cheng northwest of the Forsaken Quarter boundary stone. Use Meridian Touch to stop him at three locations, take his son Xiao Yu to the top of Beast Reverie, then talk to Chen Cheng at Hopewell Academy and return the Letter to complete the quest.

How to unlock Second Wind in Kaifeng

Second Wind will not appear until you have completed the Tale of Gold Leaves: Volume II quest first. Once that requirement is cleared, head to the area northwest of the Forsaken Quarter boundary stone. Chen Cheng is the NPC standing near the shoreline, and approaching him starts the quest.

Second Wind walkthrough

Walk up to Chen Cheng at the edge of the shore. If you get too close he warns you to keep your distance, so aim Meridian Touch at him and immobilize him. This stops him from stepping into the deep water.

Chen Cheng ignores you and walks off, dropping a letter behind him. Pick up the Letter from the ground. Its contents hint that he may head to Tianjing Dock next.

Travel to Tianjing Dock, where you find Chen Cheng standing at the water’s edge again. Use Meridian Touch on him a second time to keep him from jumping.

He drifts away once more, and the Letter’s clues now point to a family member named Xiao Yu over at Willow Bank. Head there to search for the relative.

At Willow Bank, find the young boy Chen Xiaoyu, who turns out to be Chen Cheng’s son. He says he wants to reach the highest, farthest place in Kaifeng to look for his late mother. Choose Beast Reverie, then carry him up to the rooftop and stay with him for the scene that follows.

After you part ways with Xiao Yu, go to Hopewell Academy and find Chen Cheng standing at the edge of a bridge. Use Meridian Touch one final time. This time he stays in place instead of wandering off.

Talk to Chen Cheng to hear why he wanted to jump. Bring Xiao Yu over and return the Letter he dropped earlier to close out the quest.

Note: Meridian Touch is the only tool you need for the three interventions. Each successful use shows an IMMOBILIZED prompt on Chen Cheng, confirming you stopped him in time.

Second Wind also feeds into the Compendium. Completing it grants Echo Jade and Compendium Points, and each reward track pays out more Echo Jade as your accumulated points cross higher milestones.

How to confirm the quest is done

The quest wraps up only after you have both brought Xiao Yu to Chen Cheng at Hopewell Academy and handed back the Letter. Once those two actions are done, the reward payout listed above lands and the quest clears from your active tracker. If you skip returning the Letter or fail to keep Chen Cheng immobilized at any of the three spots, the sequence will not advance, so make sure each Meridian Touch connects before he walks away.
