Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Unlock Sulley and Mike (Monsters, Inc. Realm)

Everything you need to clear the Escape Claws and Eye on the Prize quests and move both monsters into your valley.

Everything you need to clear the Escape Claws and Eye on the Prize quests and move both monsters into your valley.

Getting Sulley and Mike Wazowski to live in your valley means clearing a two-part quest chain inside the Monsters, Inc. Realm. The first quest, Escape Claws, has you sneaking onto the Laugh Floor in disguise. The second, Eye on the Prize, sends you hunting for clues and sodas so Mike can set an unbeatable record before he leaves. Neither is hard, but a few steps are easy to miss.

Quick answer: Open the Monsters, Inc. door on the third floor of the Dream Castle for 15,000 Dreamlight, then complete Escape Claws (disguise, coffee, power repair) and Eye on the Prize (keycards, three door clues, three sodas) to unlock both characters.

How to open the Monsters, Inc. Realm

Head to the Dream Castle and go up to the third floor. The Monsters, Inc. door sits to the left of the Beauty and the Beast Realm door. Interact with it and Merlin appears, offering to unlock it for 15,000 Dreamlight. Paying that cost opens the realm and immediately starts Escape Claws.

Escape Claws walkthrough

You start in the factory lobby. The big metal door at the far end won’t let you through because the game knows you aren’t a monster, so the first job is to fake being one.

Go to the colorful lockers beside the realm entrance and grab the “Lost and Found Monster Wear.” It unlocks three wardrobe items: two sets of monster ears and a blue hard hat. Equip a set of ears and the hard hat.

Pull out the Royal Camera and take a selfie while wearing the disguise. This counts as the photo for your ID badge.
Return to the large metal door and interact with it. The disguise passes the check, the door opens, and you reach the Laugh Floor where Sulley and Mike are waiting.
Talk to Sulley, then clean up the mess left from a party. Clear Sludge Slime Puddles with the Royal Watering Can and stomp the Party Trash piles of cans to remove them.

Make Sulley and Mike’s coffee

Sulley next asks for coffee from the lobby. Go to the table with the coffee maker and the row of ingredients, collect what you need, then use the maker like a cooking station by double-clicking the correct ingredients into each recipe. A notice on the board lists the orders if you forget.

Mike’s Coffee1 Coffee, 3 Sugar, 1 Non-Dairy Screamer

Restore power to rescue Mike

An explosion cuts the power and traps Mike behind the door he just walked through. Sulley wants the Emergency Manual, which is on the nearest blue work desk. After that you need to replace three fuses and fix the floor wiring.

Find all three Laugh Floor Fuses. Two sit sparkling on work desks, and the third is on a red metal workbench in the far-left corner of the room.

Return to the Electrical Panel next to Sulley and interact with it three times to slot in all three fuses.
Reconnect the power lines running along the floor. Move the Laugh Canister carts out of the way when they block you, and don’t miss the lines that have come loose from the walls. Once all 10 connections are fixed, power comes back, and Mike returns.

Speak to Sulley, admit you’re a human in disguise, and invite him to the valley. He agrees to visit, but only if Mike is on board too. That finishes Escape Claws, and Eye on the Prize begins on its own.

Eye on the Prize walkthrough

Mike won’t leave until he sets a Jokester record no one can beat, and he needs doors to do it. Talk to him, and he sends you to the Reception area for keycards.

Go to the door to the right of the Reception Desk in the lobby. It’s jammed, so you need tools to force it open.

Head back to the Laugh Floor and grab the MIFT Toolkit from the same back-left workbench where you found one of the fuses. Return to the stuck door, insert the toolkit, and go inside.
Pick up the stack of keycards from the desk in the Reception area and bring them back to Mike. This turns on the door distribution system, but the files on what makes kids laugh are missing, so you have to investigate three rooms yourself.

Clues behind Doors F2, F3, and F4

You visit three doors in order, and each one uses a different method. Report back to Mike after each room.

DoorMethodWhat to find
F2 (red)Interact with each clueClown drawing near the bedroom door, elephant drawing above the end table, and a ringmaster’s hat and wand behind the curtains. Tell Mike the child loves the circus.
F3 (blue)Photograph each clue with the Royal CameraStar-shaped ceiling lights, a book with an “SR” logo near the bookshelf, and a framed photo of Buzz Lightyear’s spaceship. The Tomorrowland poster is not a clue.
F4 (green)Retrieve a physical itemCrush the stinky sock piles until you recover a Whoopee Cushion.

Hand the Whoopee Cushion to Mike, and he decides a huge burp is the winning move. To pull it off, he asks you for plenty of soda.

Get the red, blue, and green sodas

Mike needs three sodas, one from each vending machine across the lobby and Reception area. He only gives you two tokens, so the third takes a workaround.

For the Red Soda, interact with the red vending machine in the lobby. It spends one token, and you can right-click the soda into your inventory.
For the Blue Soda, first flip the blue switch on the wall to the left of the machine to power it on, then buy the soda the same way.
For the Green Soda, use the vending machine in the hallway between the lobby and the Reception Desk, behind the door you pried open earlier. With your tokens gone, this is where you improvise to get the last drink.

How to know both quests are done

Escape Claws is complete the moment Sulley agrees to check out the valley and Eye on the Prize starts automatically. The whole chain wraps once Mike is satisfied with his record and both monsters agree to move in, which lets you place their apartment back in Dreamlight Valley. If a step won’t advance, the usual causes are a missing disguise piece, an unmade coffee order, an unrepaired power connection, or clues you interacted with instead of photographing in Door F3.

Once they’re residents, level Sulley to friendship level 2 to open his first friendship quest, Monster Movie Night, which has you tracking down a videotape and crafting a Big Scream TV.
