Picking a class in Land or Die shapes every flight you take. Each one starts you with different inventory slots, a signature item, and perks that scale as you level up, so the gap between a strong pick and a filler pick grows the longer you play. The eight current classes cover piloting, passenger care, refueling, maintenance, and fire response, and their value depends on how often you actually use their specialty.
Quick answer: Fran the Flight Attendant and Tanner the Top Gun sit at the top; Flint the Fire Fighter, Perry the Plumber, and Gary the Gas Attendee are strong role picks; Andreas the Amateur and Ty the Tourist are solid mid-game options; The Passenger is the starter you outgrow.

|---|---|
| S | Fran the Flight Attendant, Tanner the Top Gun |

Add to Google Preferences →S Tier: the classes worth building around
These two classes stay useful from your first flight to your longest runs. Their perks solve problems that come up in nearly every round, and their top-level bonuses turn routine tasks into double-Mile income.
Fran the Flight Attendant
Fran is the strongest all-round pick. The class pairs high movement speed with passenger-focused perks, so you clear support tasks faster than almost anything else in the game. Later levels let you fully calm passengers and earn double Miles for feeding them, which matters most on long flights where panic keeps stacking up.
Tanner the Top Gun
Tanner is the pilot class for experienced players. Its perks make the aircraft easier to control, slow oxygen depletion, and let you repair flight controls without a wrench. Landing rewards double at Level 5, so it pays out well for anyone who spends most of a round in the cockpit.
A Tier: specialists that carry a crew
Each of these three owns a single job and does it better than anyone else. They aren’t as universal as the S-tier picks, but in a coordinated crew where one player takes each role, they are exactly what you want.
| Class | Rarity | Base price | Specialty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flint the Fire Fighter | Epic | 10,000 Miles | Fire suppression |
| Perry the Plumber | Rare | 7,500 Miles | Toilet and system repair |
| Gary the Gas Attendee | Uncommon | 2,000 Miles | Refueling and fuel logistics |
Flint answers the game’s most dangerous emergency. Faster extinguishing, extra extinguisher charges, full immunity to fire damage, and double Miles from engine fires make him essential whenever flames start spreading. Perry dominates maintenance, with quicker toilet repairs, immunity to slipping on flooded floors, faster stamina recovery, and double Miles from unclogging at Level 5. Gary shines on fuel-heavy flights thanks to larger fuel capacity, faster carrying, extra inventory slots, and double ATC rewards.
B Tier: strong early, eventually replaced
These classes are worth unlocking and hold up well through the early and mid-game, but higher-tier options eventually cover their jobs more completely.
Andreas the Amateur
Andreas is the best first pilot class. Smoother ascent and descent, a lower chance of engine fires, and more forgiving landings help newer pilots build confidence. Tanner outclasses him at the top end, but Andreas is a great stepping stone for 4,000 Miles.
Ty the Tourist
Ty leans on upgraded cameras, a healing flash that mends nearby players and passengers, and extra inventory space. That kit is handy during anomaly events like UFO sightings, but it doesn’t reach the impact of the top support or emergency classes.
C Tier: the starter class
The Passenger is the free class everyone begins with, at 0 Miles. Extra inventory slots, slightly faster task completion, and bonus rewards from talking to passengers make it a fine way to learn the basics. Once you unlock anything else, though, it falls behind in nearly every category.
Which class to unlock first
If you enjoy flying, Andreas the Amateur is the natural first purchase and eases you toward Tanner later. If you prefer support roles, Gary the Gas Attendee is the cheapest strong option at 2,000 Miles and stays relevant on longer flights. When you want the single best all-round pick, save toward Fran the Flight Attendant. New classes may arrive as Land or Die updates, so this order reflects the current July 2026 lineup.
