Use the Ancient Hatchery, Special Cakes, and Stat Fruits to inherit six active skills, four passives, and max IVs.

Breeding in Palworld 1.0 is the fastest way to build a Pal that outperforms anything you catch in the wild. A truly optimized Pal combines four things: a strong set of active skills, the right passive skills, maxed Individual Values (IVs), and, when useful, Alpha status. The full release added two tools, the Ancient Hatchery and the Special Cake, that let you stack far more onto a single egg than the old Breeding Farm ever allowed.

Quick answer: Breed your two parents in an Ancient Hatchery with a Special Cake in the chest to pass down up to six active skills (three from each parent), keep the parents’ combined passive pool small (2 on each, or 3 and 1) to inherit up to four passives, and top up each stat with Life, Power, and Stout Fruits until Health, Attack, and Defense all reach 100.

Pass down six active skills with the Ancient Hatchery and Special Cake

By default, an offspring inherits only one active skill from its parents’ move pools. That single limit is what made move breeding so slow in earlier versions. The Ancient Hatchery removes it. When you breed inside the Hatchery and place a Special Cake in its chest, the offspring can inherit up to six active skills, drawing three from each parent.

Because each parent contributes three slots, you can build a target move set across two generations. Load Parent A with the three skills you want from one side, load Parent B with the other three, then breed them together to combine all six on the child. This is how breeding-exclusive moves that a Pal can never learn normally end up on a Level 1 offspring.

Tip: The Special Cake is the cake that matters for passives. It makes offspring more likely to inherit multiple passive skills from their parents, so keep one in the chest for every serious breeding run.

Filter active skills by unequipping unwanted moves

Inheritance pulls from whatever moves a parent currently has equipped. If a parent knows a move you do not want passed on, take it off before breeding. Stripping the unwanted skills shrinks the pool the child rolls from, which raises the odds of the exact skill you are chasing landing on the egg.

Do this on both parents. The cleaner each parent’s equipped move list is, the more predictable the six-skill result becomes.

Inherit up to four passive skills

An offspring can inherit up to four passive skills from its parents. The trick is not adding more passives, it is removing the ones you do not want. The child rolls from the combined pool of both parents, so the smaller that pool is, the higher the chance all four desired passives carry over.

Aim for a total of four passives spread across the pair, ideally two on each parent, or three on one and one on the other. With eight or more passives floating between the parents, the correct four rarely all appear at once.

Passives fall into four categories: General, Species Exclusive, World Tree, and Mutation. World Tree and Mutation passives are the hardest to get. You can add them to a Pal through disposable implants produced by recycling relics at the Pal Surgery Table, then breed that Pal to seed those passives into your line.

Max out IVs with Stat Fruits

Individual Values control the ceiling on Health, Attack, and Defense, and each can reach 100. During breeding, each of a child’s IVs is taken from Parent 1, from Parent 2, or rolled at random. Breeding two high-IV parents repeatedly is the way to push all three stats up, but you almost never need perfect luck.

Stat Fruits close the gap. Each fruit raises its stat by 10 IV points per use, up to the 100 cap. Feed a Pal these fruits to finish off any IV that came in low from breeding.

Stat FruitStat raisedEffect per use
Life FruitHealth+10 IV, up to 100
Power FruitAttack+10 IV, up to 100
Stout FruitDefense+10 IV, up to 100

Breed Alpha Pals and duplicate eggs

Alpha versions of a Pal carry higher base stats, and you can bias breeding toward them. Keep Broncherry or Broncherry Aqua in your active party while you pick up eggs, and each egg gains a chance to become an Alpha Pal egg. Broncherry Aqua gives the higher rate of the two. The bonus does not stack from carrying multiples of the same Pal, but Broncherry and Broncherry Aqua can be run together.

Grintale doubles your output. Its partner skill, Glaring Cat’s Eye, has a high chance to duplicate an egg the moment you pick it up. The copy keeps the same passives and gender as the original but rolls its own IVs, so you effectively get two attempts at a perfect stat spread from one breeding cycle.

Speed up egg production and hatching

Breeding speed is not tied to work speed, so the usual base optimizations do not help here. Instead, lean on specific passives and partner skills to cut the wait.

SourceEffect
Philanthropist (passive on parent)+100% breeding speed at the Breeding Farm; stacks additively when both parents have it
Braloha (partner skill in base)+50% egg production speed; does not stack with Babysitter
Dynamoff (partner skill in base)Shortens egg incubation time by 40%

Putting Philanthropist on both parents and keeping Braloha and Dynamoff at the base turns a long grind into a quick loop.

Cake types and what each one does

Every breeding cycle consumes a cake, and the type you use changes the outcome. Match the cake to the goal of the run rather than always baking the same one.

CakeWhat it does
CakeBasic healthy egg; earliest option
Mushroom CakeOffspring talents grow slightly more easily
Vegetable CakeLays two eggs at once for higher volume
Extravagant Vegetable CakeHigher mutation chance; talents grow more easily
Special CakeHigher chance to inherit multiple passive skills

Note: cakes spoil in your inventory, but cakes stored in the Breeding Farm chest do not expire. If a pair is assigned, though, they will consume the cake right away, so pull the parents out first if you only want to stockpile.

Mutated eggs and how tier affects them

Some eggs come out as Mutated Eggs, which hatch into a different Pal and can carry mutation-only passives you cannot obtain any other way. The Extravagant Vegetable Cake raises the odds of a mutation occurring. One quirk to plan around: the higher-tier your parents are, the fewer mutation varieties that egg can turn into, so you have tighter control over the result when breeding with strong parents.

Tower Boss breeding restrictions

Tower Boss Pals follow their own rule. They can only be bred with themselves, for example Shadowbeak paired with another Shadowbeak, so you cannot fold them into a normal breeding chain with other species. If you have a legacy Tower Boss carrying passives that are no longer legal to breed, you can move it between servers using the Global Palbox to keep it in play.

The full workflow, start to finish

Prepare your parents. Clean up their equipped active skills so only your target moves remain, and trim their passives down to a combined pool of four across the pair.

Breed in the Ancient Hatchery with a Special Cake in the chest. This is what unlocks six active skills and boosts passive inheritance on the offspring.
Stack speed and duplication. Give both parents Philanthropist, keep Braloha and Dynamoff at the base, and carry Grintale to duplicate eggs, plus Broncherry Aqua if you want Alpha rolls.
Finish the IVs. Hatch the eggs, check Health, Attack, and Defense, and feed Life, Power, and Stout Fruits to any stat below 100.

You will know it worked when the hatched Pal shows your full active skill set, the four passives you targeted, and IVs sitting at the cap once the fruits are applied. With the Ancient Hatchery, Special Cakes, and Stat Fruits working together, a Level 1 offspring can already outclass a fully leveled Pal caught in the wild.
