Beast of Reincarnation: How to Get the Giant Tree Key in Chapter 7

The Giant Tree Key is a required item in Chapter 7: Root Rot of Beast of Reincarnation. Without it, the console beside the campsite will not open the large metal gate that leads up toward the Giant Tree, and progression stalls at the two Nushi waiting beyond it.

Quick answer: Ride a ropeway car to the tower building near the Ancient Golem, climb to the roof, and defeat the Level 17 Keymaster Golem. It drops the Giant Tree Key, which you then use on the console to open the bulkhead.

During Chapter 7, you reach a console placed by a campsite. Interacting with it reveals that the huge metal gate blocking the path upward is locked, and the quest objective changes to “Open the Bulkhead leading to the Tree.” The key exists solely to power that console and raise the gate to the Giant Tree Zone.

How to reach and beat the Keymaster Golem

Speak to the Ancient Golem standing next to the console at the campsite. It tells you the key sits inside the building behind it, the one giving off red smoke.

Board any of the ropeway cars at the location and ride toward that building. As you draw close, look for the balcony on its right-hand side and jump onto it from the car when you get the chance.

Enter through the opening in the wall just above where you landed. Inside, a group of golems guards a staircase. Clear them out and take the stairs upward.

Continue up toward the roof. Along the way you fight a few more enemies and pass the Ruined Tower Interior campsite, a useful spot to rest before the fight ahead.

On the roof, you face the Keymaster Golem, a Level 17 enemy. Defeat it to receive the Giant Tree Key. This is the only guaranteed source of the key, so the fight cannot be skipped.

Use the key and confirm the gate opens

With the key in hand, jump off the roof onto one of the ropeway cars heading back the way you came. Return to the console and interact with it again. This time it accepts the key and raises the bulkhead, clearing the path to the Giant Tree Zone.

You know it worked when the metal gate opens and the objective advances past “Open the Bulkhead leading to the Tree.” From there you can climb toward the Giant Tree and reach the two Nushi. If the console still refuses to activate, the most common reason is that the Keymaster Golem has not been defeated yet, since the key only drops after that fight.
