The 1.1.0 update reshapes how side tasks work in Escape from Tarkov. Instead of long chains where one quest unlocks the next, most side tasks now open up in batches tied to your Trader Loyalty Level. Alongside that structural change, Battlestate Games rewrote the requirements for a large number of existing quests, and several of the ones new players hit first look nothing like they used to.

Quick answer: Nine early-game side tasks changed their objectives in 1.1.0. The biggest jumps are Stirrup (now 10 pistol kills on Factory instead of 3 anywhere) and Urban Medicine (now 10 Scav kills on Streets of Tarkov). Others got easier, like Tigr Safari (mark one vehicle) and Regulated Materials (hand in three shells instead of five).

How the side task system works now

The vast majority of side tasks are no longer locked into strict chains. Each trader offers a set of basic tasks at Loyalty Level 1, and completing several of them (or raising that trader’s Loyalty Level) opens the next batch. Tasks arrive in groups of two to four at a time, so progress no longer hinges on finishing one specific quest before you can touch the rest. The full breakdown is laid out in the official 1.1.0 patch notes.

Rewards shifted too. Payouts now lean heavily toward cash, experience, and reputation rather than barter items and equipment. A small number of tasks still unlock in chains and hand out especially rare trade offers or crafts, and for those the key reward is shown when you accept the first task in the chain.

Group play also changed. Squadmates can now contribute to your objectives even if they don’t have the task active, as long as they personally meet the task’s conditions such as distance, required gear, or active status effects. A handful of chains stay strictly solo, including The Tarkov Shooter and The Punisher.

Note: all “eliminate Scav” tasks were tweaked so bosses, Raiders, and Rogues no longer count toward the kill requirement. Keep that in mind for any quest below that asks for Scav eliminations.

Every early-game side task that changed

Nine early quests had their objectives rewritten. The table shows what each one asked for before the update and what it requires now.

TaskBeforeNow
Tigr SafariMark three Tigr vehiclesMark any one Tigr vehicle
Bad HabitCollect five each of three cigarette typesCollect 15 cigarettes in any mix of the three types
Stirrup3 pistol kills anywhere10 pistol kills on Factory only
Safe CorridorEliminate Scavs in the storage areaEliminate 5 Scavs and hand in 3 found-in-raid keys for that storage area

Regulated MaterialsHand in five tank shellsHand in three tank shells

The direction of these changes is mixed. Tigr Safari, Bad Habit, and Regulated Materials are now faster to finish. Stirrup and Urban Medicine are noticeably harder, since both raise the kill count and lock it to a single map. Safe Corridor adds a found-in-raid key requirement on top of the Scav kills, so it demands more preparation than before.

Confirming you have the updated versions

Open the Tasks menu and check the objective text for each quest listed above. If Stirrup shows “10 pistol kills on Factory” and Tigr Safari asks you to mark a single vehicle, your client is running the new requirements. If you still see the old objectives, the update has not applied yet.

Because tasks are now gated behind Trader Loyalty Levels, some of these may not appear immediately. If a task you expect is missing from a trader’s list, raise your Loyalty Level with that trader or complete more of their currently available tasks to unlock the next batch.

The changes are live as part of the 1.1.0 build, so any character on the PvP or PvE zones will see the reworked requirements the next time they log in. With so many objectives shifting around at once, it’s worth reading each task’s text in full before you head into a raid rather than relying on what the quest used to ask for.
