Bubbly Basin is the underwater town added in Part 1 of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, and the Pokémon who live there only show up once you build the right home for them. What you need before building Bubbly Basin habitats
Habitats are placed underwater, so you have to be able to reach the area first. Three things gate access to Bubbly Basin, and all of them must be done before you can start crafting seafloor plots.
- Own the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass.
- Learn the Dive move, added in the free Version 2.0 update.
- Complete Bleak Beach’s “Raise the environment level!” request by reaching Environment Level 5.
Once those are done, speak to Popplio at the Bleak Beach Pokémon Center, then head to the Basin gate underwater to the west and dive through it. Inside, you can begin restoring the town and placing habitats using seabed materials you collect nearby.

Where the seabed materials come from
Every recipe so far leans on materials gathered from the ocean floor. Seabed tall grass and seabed flowers form the base of the plant habitats, while small coral, tall coral, and colorful coral are the decorative pieces that turn a plain plot into a mixed habitat. You collect these while diving around Bubbly Basin as you clear and rebuild the submerged town.
Buoyant blocks also matter here. Because Bubbly Basin lets you build at different depths, you can float structures at several levels, which gives you room to place multiple habitats in the same stretch of seafloor without crowding them together.
How to know a habitat worked
A habitat counts as complete once all of its required materials are placed on a plot and the plot registers as a finished home. From there, the matching Bubbly Basin Pokémon can appear at it and lend their specialty, whether that is a Water-type covering crops with air bubbles or a Grow-type speeding up your undersea watermelons. If nobody shows up, the most common cause is a missing material, so double-check the recipe counts, since each plant habitat needs four of its base material, not fewer.
