Aion 2: How to Get Stigma Shards and Unlock Stigmas

Every shop, currency, and conversion that feeds Stigma Shard points, plus exactly how many each skill level costs.

In Aion 2, Stigma skills define each class, and Stigma Shards are the sole currency for unlocking and improving them. Leveling provides a modest supply, but an endgame build’s larger needs come mainly from three growth shops and by converting another material. Here are all the sources and how much each provides.

Quick answer: You gain Stigma Shard points by leveling past 22, buying Stigma Shard (Bound) in the Abyss, Shugo Festival, and Nightmare growth shops, and morphing Unstable Stigma Shards through Substance Morph.

When Stigma skills unlock

Stigma skills become available at character level 22, though reaching that level alone does not unlock them. You must complete the third Ascension quest, The One Who Hears the Voice, before the Stigma tab opens. The tab requires your third Ascension before it allows you to learn skills.

The Ascension reward hands every class a set of wings and one Stigma Shard point, which is exactly the cost of a level 1 Stigma. So you can register your first skill the moment the system becomes available. You start with one Stigma slot, and more open automatically as you level, up to four in the Global version.

Each class offers 13 Stigma skills, giving you more choices than you have slots. Learn a few to try them out, then register the four that suit your build. Korean and Taiwan clients support six slots at max level, while Global remains limited to four.

Points you earn from leveling up

After level 22, every character level adds Stigma Shard points to your balance. Levels 23–39 award 1 apiece, followed by 2 each for levels 40–45. Starting at level 46, each level grants 1 regular point and 1 Superior Stigma Shard point.

Reaching the level 45 cap gives you 29 points, and the Ascension reward adds 1 more for a total of 30. That is enough to raise four Stigmas to level 5 and push one of those to level 10, with nothing left over. Everything beyond that has to come from shops and conversions.

Buy Stigma Shards in the three growth shops

Three shops sell Stigma Shard (Bound) directly; each accepts a different currency and sets a per-character purchase cap. The Abyss and Nightmare shops open only when you reach level 45, so beforehand, leveling and conversions provide almost all your points.

Abyss Points and the Abyss Trade Shop

The Abyss shop stocks the most shards, with prices that rise as you buy more. Each of the first 50 costs 10,000 Abyss Points, the next 50 cost 15,000 apiece, the next 50 cost 20,000, and the final 50 cost 25,000, for 200 shards in total. Abyss Points come from several activities, so you can fill the pool however you prefer to play.

Shugo Coins and the Festival Shop

Shugo Festival minigames and dimension invasions, which appear periodically, pay out Shugo Coins. Open Shugo Festival, then the Festival Shop, and find Stigma Shard (Bound) under Consumables for 300 Shugo Coins each, capped at 35 per character per month.

Phantasmal Fragments and the Nightmare Trade Shop

Clearing Nightmare boss stages drops Phantasmal Fragments, with 900 awarded on a first clear of a stage. Open the Nightmare Trade Shop and switch to the Growth tab to buy Stigma Shard (Bound) for 1,500 Phantasmal Fragments each, capped at 35 per character each week.

Convert Unstable Stigma Shards with Substance Morph

Unstable Stigma Shards are a distinct material, which Substance Morph converts into usable Stigma Shards. Many activities that don’t award shards directly instead grant Unstable Stigma Shards, so they still contribute to Stigma progression.

They turn up in Ascension Trial score rewards, Hidden Cubes, Transcendence dungeons, Awakening Battle, Abyss Directive rewards, and various weekly or limited-entry activities. Inside Substance Morph you pick between two options. The guaranteed morph uses more materials for a 100 percent success rate, while the cheaper gamble uses fewer materials but can fail.

Choose the guaranteed route whenever you cannot afford to lose materials, and check an item’s description before discarding it, since these shards are part of the same upgrade path.

How many shards each Stigma level costs

All Stigma skills follow an identical pricing schedule: the cost for each level doubles every five levels. Raising a skill from level 1 through level 20 requires 75 Stigma Shard points; bringing four skills to level 20 therefore takes 300.

Stigma levelShards per levelRunning total
1 to 515
6 to 10215
11 to 15435
16 to 20875

Each Stigma unlocks a new specialization at levels 5, 10, 15, and 20, which makes the opening five levels a cheap and rewarding investment. Beyond level 20, advancing a Stigma requires Superior Stigma Shards rather than regular points. Because the final five levels cost more than the first fifteen combined, spreading your shards across all four slots to level 5 first, then concentrating on the skill that carries your build, gets you the most value early.

Shard items and what each one grants

Several items feed into Stigma and skill progression, and it helps to know which point each one produces before you spend a currency on it. All of them are bound and cannot be traded.

ItemGrantsRequired level
Stigma Shard (Bound)1 Stigma Shard Point22
Superior Stigma Shard (Bound)1 Superior Stigma Shard Point22
Wisdom Stone (Bound)1 Skill Point4

The Special Growth Voucher: Stigma Shard (Bound) is another option, bringing your cumulative Stigma Shard Points to 180. It does nothing when your collected points are already above 180; points gained by leveling are tracked separately. Wisdom Stone works differently, providing a standard Skill Point instead of a Stigma Shard Point.

Equip, refund, and verify your Stigmas

From the Skills menu, open the Stigma section and choose a skill to learn. Then assign it to a Stigma quickslot. Check your skill window for the new skill, and drag it from there to your action bar.

Stigmas can be refunded for free, so experimenting carries no respec penalty. You can also save full loadouts as skill presets, which is the fast way to switch between a damage-focused PvE setup and a mobility or crowd-control PvP one. Prepare the loadout before a fight, though: you cannot change equipped Stigmas once combat begins, and a Stigma on cooldown blocks preset changes.
