Modified Karnif is a Fera pet in Aion 2 that you build up by collecting its souls, not by buying it once. Every soul comes from killing Karnif-type creatures, and the fastest place to grind them at higher character levels is the Abyss. Raising the pet to Insight Lv. 3 unlocks its full set of owned stat bonuses and lets you transform into it.

Quick answer: Kill Abyss Karnif or Abyss Search Party Karnif (both level 46) in Chaotic Lower Reshanta. Each drops a Soul: Modified Karnif at 100% per kill, and you need 105 souls total to take the pet from locked to Insight Lv. 3.

Entry requirements for Chaotic Lower Reshanta

The Karnif farm sits inside an Abyss instance, so you open it through the Abyss menu rather than walking there. To queue for Chaotic Lower Reshanta you need Character Level 45 and an Item Level of 1,000. If you are below either threshold, the entry stays locked.

Press Esc to open the main menu, choose Abyss, then select Chaotic Lower Reshanta under Abyss Reshanta. The entry panel shows the level and gear requirements before you confirm.

Where the Karnif spawn

Inside Chaotic Lower Reshanta the right targets depend on your faction. Elyos and Asmodian players reach different halves of the broken islands, so you aim for whichever of the two spawn clusters your side can access. Both creatures are aggressive Fera, both sit at level 46, and both hand over a Modified Karnif soul on every kill.

Abyss Karnif roam the Devastated Remnants across three sub-zones: Dusk Battlefield, Weathered Outcrop, and Exile Island. Abyss Search Party Karnif occupy the Black Fragments Area, split between the Kration Conflict Zone, the Kibelium Fragment, and the Abandoned Island.

Abyss Search Party Karnif also appear at level 53 in Chaotic Middle Reshanta, across the Steel Titan’s Grave and Eroded Fragment Area, with far more spawn points. If your character and gear are high enough, that zone packs more of them into a smaller space.

Reaching and clearing the spawns

Enter through the staging outpost portal, then glide out from the hub toward the central and western region of the map. The Karnif areas sit down on the ground among the wreckage, so drop from altitude once you are over the ruins.
Land in the Devastated Remnants basin (or the Black Fragments Area for your faction) and pull the Karnif. They tend to appear in pairs and are often grouped with an Abyss Krall Scout Party Captain, so clear the escort if it adds to the fight.

Move between the sub-zones as you clear. Respawns here come back slower than ordinary open-world mobs, so travelling across the basin keeps you on fresh targets instead of waiting in one spot.

Keep rotating through the crater floor and you will cycle back onto newly spawned Karnif rather than running dry.

How many souls you need

Modified Karnif takes 5 souls just to unlock. After that, each Insight level costs a fixed number of extra souls. Because every Karnif kill drops exactly one soul, the soul totals double as your kill count.

GoalSouls required
Unlock the pet5
Lv. 1 → Lv. 225
Lv. 2 → Lv. 375
Total to Lv. 3105

At a 100% drop rate, that is roughly 105 kills from a fresh start to a fully leveled pet. The souls also drop from the same Karnif in Verteron (Scouting, Unruly, Trained, and Sensitive Karnif), but those are low-level creatures, so the Abyss spawns are the natural grind once you are at level 45 and above.

What Insight Lv. 3 gives you

Raising the pet’s Insight adds permanent owned stats that apply whether or not the pet is summoned. These are the figures the climb to Lv. 3 pays out.

Insight levelOwned stats
Lv. 2Accuracy Bonus +1
Lv. 3Accuracy Bonus +2, Dexterity +1

Lv. 3 is the highest level for Modified Karnif. Reaching it is also the gate for transforming into the pet, so the final 75 souls are what unlock that extra layer of use beyond the stat bonus.

Confirming your progress

Open the Pets menu to watch the Insight bar fill. Each soul ticks the counter up, and the display shows your current progress against the next threshold, such as 62/75 while you work through the final level. Once the bar fills at Lv. 3, the level stops advancing and the Lv. 3 owned stats are applied to your character for good.
