The Advance: Pet Selection Chest in Aion 2 lets you redeem one of four pets that double as mounts. It arrives alongside the Pet: Pagati as part of the launch reward mail, and the pet you choose is permanent once you confirm it. Because mounts and pets are the same system here, your pick rides with you and also feeds long-term collection progress.
Quick answer: Each of the four pets moves at the same speed, so choose whichever appearance appeals to you. Your selection affects only the genus it advances; pick your preferred design and get the others later with souls.

The four pets in the Advance: Pet Selection Chest
The chest offers a single choice from four mounts, each with its own idle and riding animation. You can preview every option before committing by clicking the eye icon next to it, which shows both the ground and mounted views.
| Pet | Appearance and ride style |
|---|---|
| Pet: Papis | Glowing winged butterfly that carries the rider suspended beneath it |
| Pet: Silver Blade Rotan | Circular mechanical blade the rider stands on top of |
| Pet: Konutin Worker | Wooden forest creature with a woven back basket the rider sits in |
| Pet: Black Smoke Murute | Molten fire-rock golem |
You can only keep one. The other three are not available later from this chest, so make the preview count before you confirm.

Add to Google Preferences →Speed and stats are the same for every choice
None of the four is faster than the others. Every released mount in the game shares one movement profile, so picking a pet for raw travel speed gets you nothing extra. The difference between mounts is purely visual.
What actually changes travel speed is the creature type bonus, not the individual pet. Only Fera-type pets add Ground Vehicle Speed, and the chest options are not the pets that raise that bonus. The first mount you earn from the Episode quest line already covers the Fera choices, so treat this chest as a cosmetic and collection pick rather than a speed decision.
Whatever you choose, the other three still exist in the world. You can unlock them later by collecting five souls each from their matching monsters, so no option is lost for good.

Genus Insight is the only progress your pick affects
Every pet belongs to a genus, and redeeming one advances that genus’s insight. Selecting the Silver Blade Rotan, for example, raises Varian Pet Genus Insight and can push it to Level 2 on the spot. Higher genus insight improves the quality of the passive stats you can roll for that type, so if you are already building one genus, choosing a pet that matches it adds a small head start.
This is also why the collection matters more than any single mount. Owning more pets raises type levels, unlocks owned effects, and pays milestone rewards, all of which apply whether or not the pet is equipped. Your chest pick is one entry toward that larger collection.
How to claim and open the chest

How to know it worked and how to equip it
After you confirm, a banner appears in the game world showing the genus insight level-up for your pet’s type. The pet is then added to your collection and ready to ride.
To equip it, open the in-game menu and go to the Pet section (also reachable through the Closet). Select the pet you own and press Equip to bring it onto the field. You can swap between any pets you own the same way at any time.
If you ever redeem a Pet item for something you already own, it converts into a soul instead of a duplicate. Since every pet needs five souls to unlock, those extra souls still move your collection forward rather than going to waste.
