Akatori: Every Amber Forest Collectible Location

Where to find all four cat statues and both Bells of Chaos to clear the Amber Forest region.

Where to find all four cat statues and both Bells of Chaos to clear the Amber Forest region.

The Amber Forest in Akatori hides six things worth chasing. Four are cat statues that feed into a Steam achievement, and two are Bells of Chaos that hand Mako new combat skills. Everything here can be grabbed in a single pass through the region if you know which platforms to climb and which drops to take.

Quick answer: Collect all four cat statues (Kaidan, Amber Crisis, Secret Weapon, Gossip) to unlock the “Spirits in the Amber Forest” achievement. The two Bells of Chaos are separate pickups that unlock the Deflect and Shockwave skills.

All four Amber Forest cat statues

Each cat statue sits in a different corner of the region and adds an entry to your collection menu when you touch it. Here is where each one lives and how to reach it.

CatMap areaHow to reach it
Kaidan (1/4)Upper-rightClimb the wooden scaffolding, then jump left onto the ledge.
Amber Crisis (2/4)Middle-rightDrop down from the red bridge, clear the boar enemies, and climb the vine-covered wall on the right.
Secret Weapon (3/4)Far-right military baseSlide down the fiery log, move across the platforms to the right, beat the flying insects near the chest, and jump up to the high platform.
Gossip (4/4)Top-leftClimb the green bamboo poles, glide across the gap to the right, and drop into the alcove beneath the pagoda.

Note: The Secret Weapon area doubles as a loot stop. Nearby you can pick up an Energy Potion, a Regeneration Potion, and a Rage Potion, so it is worth sweeping the platforms before you leave.

Both Bells of Chaos and the skills they unlock

The Bells of Chaos are not part of the cat achievement, but they are the reason to explore the same routes. Interacting with a bell spends Chaos and opens a combat challenge. Finish the challenge and the skill becomes yours.

BellSkillWhat it doesInput
Bell of Chaos 1/2DeflectBats away an incoming projectile as it nears you.Press LMB as the projectile closes in.
Bell of Chaos 2/2ShockwaveDamages enemies from a distance and launches them into the air.Press S + LMB.

The first bell sits close to the Kaidan route, so you can trigger the Deflect challenge early. The second bell is reached by jumping across a run of waterfalls, and clearing its challenge grants Shockwave. Both skills come from completing the “defeat enemies” task the challenge sets, not from the bell alone.

A clean route through the region

How to confirm the achievement unlocked

The instant you collect the fourth cat, the on-screen “Achievement unlocked” banner for “Spirits in the Amber Forest” appears. If it does not pop, you are still missing one of the four statues. Check your collection menu against the list above and return to whichever cat is not registered. The Bells of Chaos do not count toward this achievement, so skipping them will not block the unlock.

Akatori, developed by Contrast Games, is a metroidvania where Mako uses a staff for both combat and traversal, and the Amber Forest is one of several regions you’ll comb for hidden collectibles. Clearing all four cats here is the fastest way to close the region out and carry your new Deflect and Shockwave skills into the fights ahead.
