A Fragrant Journey: Echoback Landing is the pink entry in Aniimo’s perfume hunt, and the perfumer Elvira will not take anything from you until a second quest is done first. The flower she needs, the Whalesong Blossom, only appears after you solve the echonite puzzle strung across the giant whale skeleton on the Echoback Landing shore.
Quick answer: Complete Everlasting Echoback Song beforehand. Set the clock to night, strike every echonite at Echoback Landing, then collect the Whalesong Blossom. Deliver it to Elvira near Bloomville for Whisper of Longing.
What you need before starting
This chain is gated by a linked request, so bring the right team before you head out to the coast.
Access to Bloomville in the Sea of Flowers, where Elvira waits by the water.
The ability to reach Echoback Landing in the Breezy Plains, a level 36–40 area.
A Fire-type Aniimo, which is required to strike the echonites. Flameruff and Emberpup both roam Echoback Landing if you need to catch one on the beach.

Start the quest with Elvira near Bloomville
There’s no quest marker to begin the chain; open the Log and locate its clue yourself.
Travel to Bloomville using fast travel, then make your way to the river. Elvira is across the water beside her Budclaw companion Appo; swim over to speak with her.
Speak with Elvira. She hopes to reproduce her mother’s perfume and needs a Whalesong Blossom; this opens A Fragrant Journey: Echoback Landing. She can’t blend the perfume before the flower is available, so complete Everlasting Echoback Song first.
Everlasting Echoback Song is part of The Legend of Echoback Landing chapter. It starts with a painter who cannot get past the same canvas, and completing the quest is the sole way to grow the Whalesong Blossom.
Follow the shoreline to Sorora and speak to him at his easel. After The Painter by the Sea cutscene, your next task is to investigate the Echoback bones.

Strike every echonite at night
The puzzle consists of the echonites. They remain unlit in daylight, so advance the clock before the quest can continue.
Find the Day and night clock dial in the main menu and set it to Nighttime. Once darkness falls, blue echonite crystals light up across the pink whale bones.
Walk up to the first crystal embedded in the bone directly in front of the easel. The prompt asks you to twine with a Fire-type Aniimo, so switch to one and attack the echonite. A trail of light ignites and points toward the next node.
Use the light trail to guide you, striking each crystal in its indicated order. The correct sequence resonates the Echoback Song. Ten echonites are scattered across the bones.
Reach the higher nodes by climbing and gliding over the tall rib arches. Some echonites are perched high on the bone structures, beyond reach from the sand.
Finish at the waterline. Take the floating wood platforms, then swim to the offshore vertical bone pillars. Hitting the last echonite starts a cutscene in which starlight forms an Echoback whale.
A break in the light beam between crystals means a node in the chain was missed. Trace the trail backward and check for one you passed at another elevation.
Collect the Whalesong Blossom and finish the painting
Swim back to Sorora and report what you saw. He offers two names for the finished canvas, Symphony of Reunion or Echoes of a Vigil. Pick either one, view the painting, and Everlasting Echoback Song closes out.
Give Elvira the Whalesong Blossom. The True Meaning of Longing cutscene begins, and she uses the flower to make Whisper of Longing.
Check your inventory for the perfume, and confirm that A Fragrant Journey: Echoback Landing is no longer tracked in the Journey tab. The Log also records progress in The Legend of Echoback Landing chapter. To reach 100 percent and claim its reward, you still need to complete Stars and the Knight on that same stretch of beach.

What Whisper of Longing is used for
Whisper of Longing is among the ten legendary perfumes required by the Fragrant Dream chapter. Made from the Whalesong Blossom, it embodies Breezy Plains’ pink hue and contributes to the chapter’s Land Color: Echoback section.
Make your way to Tideblossom Coast and find Colorless Dream – Echoback.
Apply Whisper of Longing to restore color to the dream.
This section rewards 60 Safaris and 5 Glimmer.
With levels 53–60 defining Tideblossom Coast, you may need to keep the perfume in your bag for some time before you can safely deliver it. Taking it to Elvira wraps up the Echoback portion of the journey; leave coloring the Colorless Dream until your team catches up. To obtain the Prismana Iris egg at the end of A Fragrant Dream, complete all ten Land Color subquests.
