Two Aniimo hide behind one unmarked scene in Russet Highlands. The Mountain Woods forms of Helmut and Rookey will not spawn anywhere in the world until you take a golden helmet away from the creatures guarding it, and the guard in question refuses to let a Pathfinder walk up and grab it.

Quick answer: Go west of First Sight Sanctum in Russet Highlands, take the golden helmet using either a Control skill like Gravity Pull or an Aniimo with Cloak, then capture the Mountain Woods Helmut that appears.

Where the golden helmet is in Russet Highlands

The scene sits in Russet Highlands, in the Breezy Plains region, a short distance west of First Sight Sanctum. You are looking for a low valley crowded with wild Helmuts. Three named ones stand apart from the rest, facing a golden helmet resting on a pedestal against a rock wall: Onlooking Helmut, Watchful Helmut, and Devoted Helmut.

There is no quest marker and no journal entry for it. If you prefer to approach from above, the ridge at the edge of Rainbow Woods drops straight down into the same woods, and gliding from there lands you near the cluster.

Talking to Watchful Helmut brings up dialogue explaining the situation, but conversation alone does not move the scene forward. Devoted Helmut is the one that physically blocks you, and it turns you back while you are in human form.

The scene plays once. Bring a team that can handle a Level 49 wild encounter and a stock of Anipods before you touch the helmet.

Two ways to take the golden helmet

Both approaches end the same way, so pick whichever fits what you already own. Twining with a Helmut of your own does not reliably fool Devoted Helmut, so do not rely on a disguise.

MethodWhat you needHow it works
Gravity PullA Control-tag skill equippedDrag the helmet off its stand from range
CloakWisptis, Ignitis, or FulmintisTurn invisible and sneak it away

Gravity Pull costs 0 EP, has no cooldown, and deals no damage. It is a pure Control skill, which is exactly why it works here. Cloak is a mobility skill that puts you into a Cloak State while Twined with an Aniimo that has it. Wisptis is the easiest of the three to obtain, spawning at Berylline Vale at night. Fulmintis sits behind the paid Advanced Edition of the Companion Handbook.

Method 1: Pull the helmet with Gravity Pull

Open the Character menu and go to your Combat Skill Set. Equip Gravity Pull as an active skill so it is on your bar when you reach the pedestal.
Switch back to your human character. You do not need to be Twined for this method, but you do need line of sight on the helmet.
Aim at the golden helmet in the middle of the three named Helmuts and use Gravity Pull. The helmet drags away from the group and the scene triggers immediately.

Method 2: Sneak in with a Cloak Aniimo

Open the Aniimo management screen and put a Cloak user into your active party. Wisptis, Ignitis, and Fulmintis all carry the skill across their Basic, Forest, Highland, and Prismana forms.

Twine with that Aniimo near the valley and activate Cloak to enter the invisible state before you close in on the guards.
Walk up to the pedestal while invisible and use the Sneak it away! prompt. Devoted Helmut never reacts, and the scene resolves the same way it does with Gravity Pull.

Capture the Mountain Woods Helmut to finish the scene

Once the helmet leaves the pedestal, the surrounding Helmuts react and a wild Level 49 Mountain Woods Helmut appears. Taking the helmet is not enough on its own. You have to catch that Helmut with an Anipod for the scene to count as complete, which registers as No. 061 in your Aniilog.

You will know it worked from the on-screen notice reading “Helmut Special Form collection progress increased. Collaboration Ability Level +1!” From that point, Mountain Woods Helmut starts spawning normally around Russet Highlands, so you can farm extras if you want spares for evolution.

How to find Mountain Woods Rookey after the scene

Rookey unlocks at the same moment Helmut does, and you do not have to evolve anything to get one. Open the map, find Rookey (Mountain Woods Form) in the index, and place a tracking marker on it. The spawn rule listed under its entry will now read as satisfied.

The tracked point sits in Russet Highlands within the level 45 to 50 band. Teleporting to the First Sight waypoint and riding out along the dirt path is the quickest route. Some spawn spots sit on an upper plateau, so expect to climb a short cliff to reach them.

Wild Rookey appears at Level 49, usually wandering near a scattering of Happy Helmut. Battle it down and throw an Anipod. A successful capture registers No. 063 and produces the matching notice: “Rookey Special Form collection progress increased. Collaboration Ability Level +1!”

Mountain Woods Rookey stats and habitat

Rookey (Mountain Woods Form) is a Dark element Aniimo in the BREAK role, sitting at stage 3 of its family line. It stands 1.5m tall and weighs 18kg.

Its habitat is Russet Highlands across the level 45 to 50 range. Releasing one back into the wild returns Growth Flower x2, and filing a report on it pays out 100 Credits. Its Aniilog entry describes armor polished to gold after blocking countless attacks in defense of its clan.

Evolving a Mountain Woods Helmut into Rookey

Catching a wild Rookey is far simpler than evolving one, but the evolution path exists if you want to raise your own. A Mountain Woods Helmut can branch into either Pawney or Rookey from Level 45, and each branch has its own conditions.

Rookey
Rookey. Image: Pawprint Studio
  • The Helmut must be Level 45 or higher.
  • It needs the Unwavering Rampart passive talent, unlocked at Trailblazer 1 through Elite Training.
  • You must defeat a designated opponent while in Defense Mode, with a Counter skill dealing the damage.
  • The evolution costs Night Stone x3.

To obtain the Pawney branch, complete the Sword of Bravery quest first. The Mountain Woods Helmut is not merely cosmetic: it shares a standard Helmut’s base stats, along with identical combat, innate, and mobility skills.

Once both entries are filled, the only reason to return to that valley is for spares. The spawns are permanent, so a rough capture attempt on your first Rookey is not a lost run.
