Catch Alpha Luminelle at night, gather the Treasures of the Sea books, and evolve a Bulbly into Veilfloat on the Tideblossom Coast.

Catch Alpha Luminelle at night, gather the Treasures of the Sea books, and evolve a Bulbly into Veilfloat on the Tideblossom Coast.

Completing Is That a… Lighthouse? on the Tideblossom Coast both evolves a stage-1 Bulbly and awards the Veil Heart, an Epic curio connected to its growth. The quest can progress only at night, requires you to catch a particular Alpha before it will begin, and sends you to find every requested book across one group of coastal islands in Breezy Plains.

Quick answer: Catch the level 60 Alpha Luminelle at night on the Tideblossom Coast, talk to the Bulbly on the cliff, collect the four Treasures of the Sea books, then return and tell it Hayes’s story.

What you need before starting

The Tideblossom Coast is balanced for levels 53–60, with a level 60 Alpha protecting the quest trigger. The Bulbly won’t give you useful information unless you’ve met several requirements.

  • Bring a team capable of clearing the Tideblossom Coast’s level 53–60 content.
  • Unlock Day and Night Switch by progressing through the main story.
  • Capturing Alpha Luminelle after defeating it awards the Research Notes on Bulbly Electrolinguistics.
  • A Fire-based attack to burn the brambles blocking one of the book chests.
  • Set the in-game clock to nighttime before each conversation with the Bulbly.

Unlock the quest: Leah, the shooting star, and Alpha Luminelle

Use your Log to track the “A Lighthouse?” clue on the Tideblossom Coast. The clue leads to Leah, who roams the coast in daylight only. Set the clock to daytime, then look for her near the tents on the hillside overlooking the shore.

Talk to Leah about the lighthouse legend and the seafaring Pathfinder, Hayes. The clue updates to send you back to the shore after dark to learn about the Golden Shooting Star.

Set the clock to night and wait on the southern island’s shore beside the circular pool. A radiant gold star arcs across the sky and slams into the sand, beginning the encounter.

Take on Alpha Luminelle at level 60. Break its shield and bring its health down to zero, while your companions continue attacking through each phase change. When the overcharge warning appears, defeat the smaller Luminelles it summons to power the charge before it finishes.

Capture Luminelle while the Catch Countdown screen is active. A victory by itself isn’t sufficient: you’ll need Luminelle in your party to translate later. Catching it grants the Research Notes on Bulbly Electrolinguistics and officially starts the quest.

Throw an Anipod Ultra to guarantee a 100% catch rate and avoid having to face the Alpha again if your first attempt fails.

Talk to the Bulbly and read its signals

After obtaining the research notes, use the Journey tab to track Is That a… Lighthouse? and make your way up the rocky incline to the cliff edge on that island. Leave the clock set to night; the Bulbly won’t move the quest forward in daylight.

At the cliff, choose Twine with Luminelle to interpret the electrical current as speech using Bulbly Electrolinguistics. Next, the Bulbly asks you to recount tales from the surface, updating your objective to a search for seafaring lore along the Tideblossom Coast.

Treasures of the Sea and Where to Find Them locations

You need four volumes of Treasures of the Sea and Where to Find Them, Hayes’s maritime journal about his “magical lighthouse.” Each search spot is marked on your map. Three are loose pickups on sand and rock; only the one in the cave is locked away.

VolumeLocation
VIBeach shoreline north of the Luminelle fight, beside a purple plant
IVMetal chest on a rocky islet just north of the fight island
IIIShoreline near a tide pool in the central part of the coast
ICave on the southern coast, in a chest behind burnable brambles

Volume I is a common roadblock. Inside the cave, a barrier of glowing brambles blocks the chest; use a Fire attack to remove it. The rare Rainstorm Form Luminelle is also available to catch in that cave.

Tell the story and evolve the Bulbly into Veilfloat

Return to the cliff top with all four volumes, twine with Luminelle again, and choose the option to tell the Bulbly about Hayes and the sea. When the game asks what a “lighthouse” means, pick the line that describes it as a light in the darkness, waiting for Hayes to come home.

A short cutscene plays, the currents leap, and the Bulbly evolves into Veilfloat. The quest closes out with the Veil Heart and the rest of the payout.

The Veil Heart is an Epic Curio described in-game as “A rare curio, consolidating the Veilfloat’s understanding of evolution.” It is a keepsake from the quest rather than a consumable, so expect no combat use from it.

How to confirm the quest is finished

The quest finishes after the cliff-top dialogue concludes and the evolution cutscene plays. Veilfloat is added to your Aniimo roster, while the Veil Heart, credits, crystals and other rewards go into your inventory. If the closing conversation won’t start after you’ve explored the map, make sure all four volumes are recorded and the clock remains on night, then talk to the Bulbly once more.

The Bulbly evolution line, for reference

The creature you just evolved sits in the middle of a three-stage Electric line that lives on the Tideblossom Coast. Knowing the full path helps if you want to push Veilfloat further after the quest.

All three forms are Electric creatures with the support (SUP) role, and they share a shiny rate of 0.005% (1 in 20,000) and a dark rate of 0.0333% (1 in 3,000). Veilfloat carries base stats of 99 HP, 93 attack, 72 defense, 93 magic attack and 74 magic defense, so it keeps its support leanings even as a stage-2 form.

Luminelle at the top of the line jumps to 110 HP, 115 attack and 115 magic attack, and branches into extra forms — the Rainstorm Form you can catch in the cave, which adds a Water element, and a Prismana Form that adds Holy and channels its stored electricity into healing light.
