Anime Apocalypse: How to Get Return by Death and King of Greed

Anime Apocalypse pushed its Endless Cycle update live on September 5th, 2026, and the headline additions are two Majestic-tier abilities: Return by Death, built around Re:Zero protagonist Natsuki Subaru, and King of Greed. Both sit at the very bottom of the roll table, so the practical question for most players is not what they do but how many spins it takes to see one.

Quick answer: Return by Death and King of Greed can only drop from Lucky Odds rolls, where the Majestic tier itself appears at 0.01%, and each of the two new abilities sits at 0.002% inside that tier. Once one drops, equip it to an ability slot, then spend Trait Crystals in the Traits menu to reroll onto Reaper or Shinigami (0.5% each).

Return by Death and King of Greed drop rates

Rolls split into two pools. Normal Odds only ever produce Rare, Epic, or Legendary results, so no amount of spinning there will ever hand you a Majestic. Everything at Mythic and above lives behind Lucky Odds, and Majestic is the smallest slice of that pool.

Inside the Majestic tier, four abilities share that 0.01%. The two new ones are the rarest entries alongside the Dread variant of Red-Haired Pirate.

Note: the Supreme tier is a separate rung and does not lead into Majestic. Soul Reaper, Ghost of Shinobi, and Red-Haired Pirate each sit at 0.06% there, so pulling one of those is not a sign that a Majestic is close.

Equip the ability and reroll its trait

A Majestic drop does nothing while it is sitting unassigned. Slotting it and locking in a trait are two separate actions, and the trait reroll is where most of the grind actually happens.

You know it worked when the ability card in the slot shows the new trait name and its stat lines. If the slot still reads with the old trait after a reroll, the roll was spent on a different slot, which is the single most common mistake here.

Reaper vs Shinigami trait stats

The two headline traits pull in different directions. Reaper is the cleaner damage-and-cooldown option, while Shinigami trades cooldown reduction away for survivability and much better currency gain.

Shinigami’s negative cooldown reduction is easy to miss. It lengthens your downtime between moves, so it suits farming runs and longer boss fights rather than short burst rotations.

Movesets for both Majestic abilities

Each ability carries four named moves on top of its basic attacks and an ultimate. Return by Death leans on Re:Zero magic and the Unseen Hand tied to Subaru’s Authority of Greed, while King of Greed is the more straightforward area-damage set.

Both sets end in an ultimate, and both use standard M1 chains for basic damage. If you are testing a fresh set in the open world, the tutorial prompts still appear over the top of your kit, including the slide input mapped to CTRL.

Everything else in the Endless Cycle update

The abilities arrived alongside a new world boss that shares the King of Greed name, plus a fresh mode and battlepass. The cosmetic additions tie back into the same theme.

For reference, Endless Cycle follows the Journey’s End update from August 29th, 2026 and the Hollow Night update from August 22nd, 2026, keeping the roughly weekly cadence the game has been running. Nothing in the current patch changes how the tier system works, so the odds above are the whole picture: grind Lucky Odds for the ability, then grind Trait Crystals for the trait, and treat every Supreme pull along the way as a consolation prize rather than progress.
