Anime Expeditions: Evolve Puppet into Puppet (Telekinetic) First

The exact materials, the Unit Trial that drops the Puppet Heart, and how to confirm the evolution landed.

The exact materials, the Unit Trial that drops the Puppet Heart, and how to confirm the evolution landed.

Puppet is the clearest first evolution target in Anime Expeditions. Its evolved form, Puppet (Telekinetic), sits at the top of community DPS and control rankings, and the materials it needs are cheaper than the game’s headline Mythic lines. That combination makes it the highest-value early investment for a new or mid-game account.

Quick answer: Evolve Puppet into Puppet (Telekinetic) at the Evolve station in the Upgrades room. You need 1x Puppet Heart, 20x Pink Sprites, 20x Purple Sprites, 1x Rainbow Sprite, and 5,000 Gold. Get the Puppet Heart by clearing Puppet’s Unit Trial, then press Evolve Unit.

Why Puppet is the first evolve worth making

Puppet (Telekinetic) is rated SS as a DPS and control unit. Its evolution unlocks the Complete Control passive, which rewinds every enemy in range for 2 seconds. Pushing an entire wave backward buys placement time, resets boss approach, and covers the crowd-control slot that most early teams lack.

Cost is the other reason it comes first. Puppet’s recipe uses only two sprite colors plus a single Rainbow Sprite and 5,000 Gold. Compare that to Shadow (Divine), which demands three colored sprite sets of 20 each, 3 Rainbow Sprites, and 10,000 Gold. Puppet delivers a top-tier passive for roughly half the Rainbow and Gold outlay.

Evolution Sprites drop across Story mode, challenges, weekly challenges, mastery stages, expeditions, and raids. Farm the highest Story map you can clear comfortably to bank Pink and Purple Sprites, and hold onto any Rainbow Sprite you earn, since it is the scarcest part of the recipe.

How to get the Puppet Heart from the Unit Trial

The Puppet Heart is the one item you cannot passively farm. It comes from Puppet’s Unit Trial, a skill-based challenge that hands you a preset team and a specific objective. Clearing it grants the evolution item immediately, so there is no random drop to chase.

Open your unit inventory and select Puppet. The evolution requirements appear on the unit card, including the Puppet Heart.
Choose Upgrade, then Enter Trial. Read the objective before it starts so you know the win condition for that challenge.
Complete the trial with the provided team. On success, the Puppet Heart is added to your inventory and can be used in the Evolve menu.

How to evolve Puppet at the Upgrades room

In the main lobby, walk into the Upgrades room and find the Evolve section, next to Traits and Inventory.
Press the E key to open the Evolution menu, then select Puppet from your list of eligible units.
Check the requirement list. If you are short on Pink or Purple Sprites, use Quick Craft on the same screen to fill gaps where possible.
With every material and 5,000 Gold in hand, press Evolve Unit to convert Puppet into Puppet (Telekinetic).

You can preview the Complete Control passive in the same menu before spending anything, so you can confirm the payoff first.

How to confirm the evolution worked

After you press Evolve Unit, the unit’s name updates to Puppet (Telekinetic) and its stats increase. The Complete Control passive now shows in its ability list, and the consumed materials disappear from your inventory. If the name and passive both changed, the evolution is complete.

Common reasons the evolve button won’t trigger

  • You have not cleared Puppet’s Unit Trial yet, so the Puppet Heart is missing.
  • Your Pink or Purple Sprite count is below 20 each.
  • You lack the single Rainbow Sprite or the 5,000 Gold.
  • You selected a different unit in the Evolve menu instead of Puppet.

Once Puppet (Telekinetic) is online, the rewind passive frees you to spend later evolutions on pure damage lines such as Shadow (Divine) or Cursed Student (True Love) without leaving your team short on control. That is what makes it the safest first material investment on a fresh account.
