East Town arrived with the Warrior Saga update and is the one map in Anime Expeditions where you can talk to quest NPCs. Two of them, Bioinsect and Prodigy, hand out linked questlines that end with the secret Prodigy unit. You have to finish Bioinsect’s quest before Prodigy’s line becomes available, so the order matters.
Quick answer: Enter East Town during an active stage, talk to Bioinsect near the beach and finish Perfection’s Trial, then talk to Prodigy near the Basketball court and complete the eight-step Scholar’s Trial to earn Prodigy.
Where to find the East Town quest NPCs
Both NPCs only appear while you are running a live stage in East Town. They do not spawn in the sandbox gamemode, so you need to be in an active run and explore the map to reach them. Each stands on an opposite side of the portal.
| NPC | Location |
|---|---|
| Bioinsect | Left side of the portal, near the beach |
| Prodigy | Right side of the portal, near the Basketball court |

Start with Bioinsect, because clearing his quest is what unlocks Prodigy’s line. His task, Perfection’s Trial, asks you to beat the Unit Trial tied to Bioinsect.
Unit Trials are dedicated challenge stages that reward equipment made for that specific unit. You can only start Bioinsect’s Unit Trial after you summon Bioinsect from the Mini or Standard Banner. Expect a fight, since Unit Trials are among the hardest stages in the game.

Finishing Perfection’s Trial pays out two rewards:
| Reward | Use |
|---|---|
| Mechanical Wings | Equipment and evolution material for Bioinsect (Final Form) |
| 15x Equipment Reroll | Reroll equipment stats |
Prodigy’s Scholar’s Trial and how to unlock Prodigy
With Bioinsect’s quest done, head to Prodigy near the Basketball court. Prodigy hands you the Scholar’s Trial, a longer questline that touches the new units and the Expedition system before sending you back to East Town for a final Unit Trial. Completing all eight objectives grants the secret Prodigy unit.
| # | Objective |
|---|---|
| 1 | Complete East Town one time |
| 2 | Participate in one Tournament |
| 3 | Clear a Boss Node on East Town Difficulty 3 |
| 4 | Collect 350 Mechanical Scrap |
| 5 | Clear 150 Waves with Bioinsect (Final Form) |
| 6 | Complete Prodigy’s Trial |
| 7 | Evolve one Unit |
| 8 | Clear 150 Waves with Carrot (Unleashed) |

Note: two of the wave objectives depend on evolved units, so you need Bioinsect (Final Form) and Carrot (Unleashed) ready before you can finish steps five and eight. Bioinsect (Final Form) uses the Mechanical Wings from Perfection’s Trial as evolution material, which is another reason to clear Bioinsect’s quest first.
Are the East Town quests worth completing?
The quests are optional, but there are solid reasons to finish them. The main payoff is Prodigy, a secret unit you cannot get any other way. Along the road you also pick up Bioinsect (Final Form) and new Expedition material, plus Index completion for the units involved.
Both new units are geared toward end-game content, so the effort feeds directly into stronger teams rather than a one-off cosmetic. You will know each questline is done when the NPC’s quest updates and the listed reward lands in your inventory, with Prodigy unlocking once every Scholar’s Trial objective shows as complete.
