Villain Chests are the main way to stockpile Villain Coins and grab the limited Crow (Rider) skin in Anime Expeditions. They come from the Villain Hunt event, drop in bunches when you kill roaming boss enemies, and each one you open hands back a single random reward. The trick is knowing exactly where they spawn and which mode fills your chest count the fastest.
Quick answer: Run non-competitive modes (Story, Infinite, Challenge, or Mastery), defeat the random villain bosses that invade the stage to bank 5 Villain Chests each, and clear daily boss-kill milestones for bonus chests. Open the chests from the Villain Hunt event page or your Items bag, and the Crow (Rider) skin is a rare random drop from them.

Where Villain Chests drop
Villain Chests only come from the Villain Hunt loot event. To earn them you have to defeat specific villain bosses inside the non-competitive stages, which means Story, Infinite, Challenge, and Mastery. The Villain Invasion mode does not count toward this, so do not waste runs there expecting chests.
Any map inside those non-competitive modes can spawn a boss. While a run is active, dangerous villains appear at random moments and trigger an on-screen alert that reads, “[Villain Name] (Boss) Appeared! A random villain has invaded the stage! Defeat them to obtain Villain Chests!” Kill that boss and you collect 5 Villain Chests.
Note: Spawns are random in both timing and which villain shows up, so more than one boss can appear during a single run. That randomness is exactly why longer, continuous stages pay off.

Infinite mode is the strongest farming option. Because it keeps running without a hard clear, you stay in one stage long enough to catch multiple boss invasions instead of restarting between short maps. Every boss you drop there is another 5 chests toward your total.

On top of the per-boss drops, the Villain Hunt tracks how many bosses you kill and pays out extra chests and Event Coins for hitting daily milestones. You can beat up to 15 villain bosses per day for milestone credit, and the reward per day climbs the longer the event runs.
| Day | Villain Chests reward |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | 5 |
| Day 2 | 10 |
| Day 3 | 15 |
| Day 4 | 20 |
| Day 5 | 25 |
| Day 6 | 30 |
| Day 7 | 35 |
| Day 8 | 40 |
| Day 9 | 45 |
| Day 10 | 50 |
Tip: Log in and clear your 15 boss kills each day so you never miss the escalating milestone chests. Skipping a day means losing that day’s larger payout on top of the drops.
How to open Villain Chests

Earning chests does not automatically give you the rewards. You have to open each one, and there are two places to do it. Both give the same result, so use whichever is closer to what you are already doing.

Every Villain Chest reward
Each chest you open returns exactly one reward chosen at random from the pool below. Villain Coins are the headline drop because they pay for villain unit summons, evo item purchases, and unit equipment. The Crow (Rider) skin sits in the same pool as a rare pull.
| Reward | Quantity | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Villain Coins | 250x | Villain unit summons, evo item purchase, unit equipment |
| Trait Crystal | 2x | Reroll a unit’s trait |
| Stat Reroll | 2x | Reroll a unit’s stats |
| Stat Lock | 2x | Lock a stat before rerolling others |
| Equipment Reroll | 2x | Reroll an equipment substat |
| Equipment Lock | 2x | Lock an equipment substat before rerolling |
| Crow (Rider) Skin | 1x | Exclusive event cosmetic |
Because the Crow (Rider) skin is a rare chance and not a guaranteed drop, the reliable path to it is volume. The more chests you open, the more chances you roll at the skin, which loops back to why the boss-kill milestones and Infinite farming matter so much.
How to confirm it worked
You know a boss kill registered when your Villain Chest count climbs by 5 and the daily milestone tracker ticks up toward its next threshold. Opening a chest shows the single reward on screen and adds it to your account, so the Crow (Rider) skin appears in your inventory only if that specific roll lands.
If chests are not dropping, the most common cause is playing the wrong mode. Villain bosses spawn only in Story, Infinite, Challenge, and Mastery, never in Villain Invasion. Stick to those non-competitive stages, clear your 15 daily boss kills, and keep opening chests until the skin drops.
