The Promise Ring is a Secret Unit Equipment in Anime Expeditions built for a single character: Cursed Student (True Love). It swaps out the unit’s default passive for a Bleed-driven damage engine, which makes it worth farming if that carry sits at the center of your team.

Quick answer: Clear the Mastery Act of School Grounds (Act 1) repeatedly. The Promise Ring has a 5% drop chance and a 20-run pity, so it is guaranteed on your 20th Mastery clear if it hasn’t dropped sooner.

Where the Promise Ring drops

The ring only comes from the Mastery difficulty of School Grounds, the first Story Mode stage. Normal, Hard, and the Infinite Act do not drop it. That restriction matters, because it is easy to grind the wrong difficulty and never see the item.

Each Mastery clear rolls a 5% chance to hand you the Promise Ring. If you keep missing, the pity system removes the gamble. Your 20th completed Mastery run awards it outright. You can track progress on the drop screen, which shows a counter such as 1/20 Pity Promise Ring.

Evolve Cursed Student into Cursed Student (True Love)

Only the evolved form can wear the ring. Base Cursed Student cannot equip it, so plan the evolution before or alongside your farming runs. The materials are fixed.

Once the evolution completes, Cursed Student (True Love) unlocks its exclusive equipment slot and becomes eligible to hold the Promise Ring.

Substats and rerolling

The Promise Ring lands with two randomized substats. The Damage roll is the consistent one, landing anywhere from +1% to +10%. The secondary stat is reported as either a Range bonus of +1% to +5% or a negative SPA roll between -1% and -5%, where the negative value shortens the delay between attacks. Either way, higher Damage is the roll you want to chase.

SubstatRoll range
Damage+1% to +10%
Range / SPA+1% to +5% Range (or -1% to -5% SPA)

You can reroll these values with Equipment Rerolls if the first drop is weak. If one existing roll is already strong, use an Equipment Lock to protect it before rerolling, so you don’t overwrite a good stat while fishing for the other.

How the Spirit Bats passive works

Equipping the Promise Ring overrides Cursed Student (True Love)’s original passive with Spirit Bats. This passive pays off a Bleed-focused playstyle rather than raw stats.

When enemies inside the unit’s attack range build up 20 total Bleed stacks, a Bat Spirit spawns at the unit’s position. Up to three Bat Spirits can be active at the same time. Each one deals 25% of the unit’s current Damage per attack and vanishes after landing three attacks. The more consistently you stack Bleed, the more often the bats appear, so the passive scales directly with how much Bleed pressure your team can maintain.

Confirming you got it

After a successful Mastery run, the victory rewards screen lists the Promise Ring in your drops, and it appears in your Items inventory afterward. From there, open Cursed Student (True Love) in the Unit Manager and slot the ring into its equipment slot. You’ll know it worked when the unit’s passive display changes to Spirit Bats. If the ring won’t equip, the unit is still in its base Cursed Student form and needs the evolution completed first.
