Every requirement in the “The Strongest Shinobi” questline, from Modora’s Tablet drop rates to the Ghost’s Trial II boss fight.

Madara is the mythic payoff at the end of the longest chain of prerequisites in Anime Origins. There is no banner pull and no luck involved in the final step. You earn the unit by finishing a questline called “The Strongest Shinobi,” which stacks artifact grinding, two unit evolutions, an infinite-mode wave requirement, and a crafted weapon on top of each other before it opens the boss fight that hands Madara over.

Quick answer: Complete “The Strongest Shinobi,” craft the Ghost’s Gunbai, clear Ghost’s Trial I to earn the Key of the Ghost, then use that key to enter Ghost’s Trial II. Your first clear of Trial II awards Madara guaranteed.

Madara unlock requirements in Anime Origins

Every item below is mandatory. The questline tracks them as separate objectives, so partial progress on one does not unlock the next.

RequirementWhere it comes from
Modora’s TabletRare drop from SND-4 artifact runs in Hidden Sand Legend stages
RinneganDrops alongside the tablet during Hidden Sand Legend farming
Sasuke (Eternal)Evolve your Sasuke unit
Noroto (Linked)Evolve Naruto using a crafted Seal Card
Wave 100Hidden Sand Infinite mode
Ghost’s GunbaiCrafted from three Gunbai parts
Key of the GhostAwarded for completing Ghost’s Trial I

You also need enough clearing power to get through story mode and into Hidden Sand in the first place. Karakura Town and the Entertainment District both run through six acts each, and units like Bon (Purgatory), Vegito (Super), and Goki (Super 3) handle those stages comfortably if one of them carries a strong trait.

Entertainment District acts open after Karakura Town Act 6, and clearing Entertainment District Act 6 pushes you further along the story track toward the Hidden Sand content you actually need.

Farm Modora’s Tablet with a Perfected SND-4 artifact

Modora’s Tablet is the bottleneck. It drops from Hidden Sand runs while an SND-4 artifact is equipped, and the base rate is low enough that unrefined attempts can run for hours with nothing to show. Refining the artifact directly raises that drop chance, so upgrade before you grind rather than after.

Clear Hidden Sand Legend 2 to obtain the SND-4 artifact. Legend stages are the only place this tier appears, so you cannot substitute a lower-tier artifact here.
Open the Artifacts menu and refine SND-4 until it reaches the Perfected state. At Perfected, the Modora’s Tablet drop rate sits at 6 percent, which is the highest the artifact goes.

Run Hidden Sand acts repeatedly with the Perfected artifact equipped until both the Rinnegan and Modora’s Tablet drop. Modifiers such as Traitless make runs harder but remain clearable with a well-built team, and they are useful when you are farming the same stage dozens of times.

Note: 6 percent is a per-run chance, not a counter. There is no pity, so budget for a long streak of empty clears.

Unlock “The Strongest Shinobi” and finish its objectives

The tablet unlocks the questline itself. Once “The Strongest Shinobi” appears, check its objectives in the Quests menu, since each one has to be cleared before the crafting step becomes available.

Two of the objectives are evolutions. Sasuke must become Sasuke (Eternal), and Naruto must become Noroto (Linked), which requires crafting a Seal Card first. Both evolved units stay in your roster afterward and are strong enough to help with the remaining steps.

The third objective is endurance. You need to reach wave 100 in Hidden Sand Infinite, and the run does not need to end there. Pushing a wave or two past 100 simply confirms the objective ticked over.

Claiming the completed quest rewards is what produces the Key of the Ghost and opens the Ghost’s Gunbai crafting recipe. If the recipe is greyed out, an objective is still unclaimed in the lobby.

Craft the Ghost’s Gunbai from three artifact drops

The Ghost’s Gunbai takes three parts, and each one comes from a different SND artifact tier farmed in the earlier Hidden Sand acts. Unlike the tablet, these drop often enough that a handful of runs per part is normal.

PartArtifact source
Gunbai StaffSND-1 artifact runs
Gunbai BaseSND-2 artifact runs
Gunbai BandageSND-3 artifact runs

Check the crafting screen before each farming session. It lists the exact artifact tier tied to each missing part, which saves you from grinding the wrong Hidden Sand act.

Clear Ghost’s Trial I and Ghost’s Trial II

Crafting the Gunbai unlocks Ghost’s Trial I. It is solo-clearable with an evolved roster, and completing it feeds the questline the progress that awards the Key of the Ghost.

Using the Key of the Ghost opens Ghost’s Trial II, which is the Madara boss fight. This is the only guaranteed drop in the entire chain. Your first clear of Trial II awards the Madara unit outright, with no roll or percentage attached.

You will know it worked when Madara appears in your unit list immediately after the trial results screen. If Trial II is still locked, the key has not been claimed from the quest rewards yet.

Evolve Madara into Madara (Edo Tensei)

The base unit is not the final form. Madara evolves into Madara (Edo Tensei) using evolution materials, and the evolved version is what carries the full passive kit.

AbilityType
Susano RibcagePassive
Susano TimePassive
Heaven’s PressurePassive
Heaven SplitterActive

Traits are separate from the evolution. Trait rerolls come from quest rewards and level milestones, and rolling something like Immortal on Madara is a pure chance outcome you can chase after the unit is already yours. Reroll before evolving or after, since the trait carries across.

Why the Madara questline stalls

Nearly every stuck run comes down to one of four things.

  • Farming Hidden Sand without upgrading SND-4 to Perfected first, which leaves the tablet drop rate far below 6 percent.
  • Leaving Sasuke or Naruto unevolved, since both Sasuke (Eternal) and Noroto (Linked) are hard objectives.
  • Stopping short of wave 100 in Hidden Sand Infinite.
  • Not claiming finished quests in the lobby, which is what releases the Key of the Ghost and the Gunbai recipe.

The total time investment is dominated almost entirely by the tablet farm, so the practical advice is to treat the Perfected SND-4 upgrade as step zero. Everything after it, from the Gunbai parts to both Ghost’s Trials, is deterministic work you can finish in a single sitting.
