Anime Origins just launched, and the roster already leans hard on a handful of Secret and Mythic carries that do the heavy lifting while most starter pulls fade after the opening waves. The ranking below focuses on the units that actually matter for clearing content, along with the traits that push them further. Placements reflect the early release meta and will shift as full stats, evolutions, and hands-on testing fill in the gaps.
Quick answer: Chase Valcrad (Unleashed), Madaro (Edo Tensei), and Cursed Lover (Pure Love) as your top carries, and secure Bluma (Data Analyst) as the go-to farm unit for economy.
Anime Origins unit tier list
The table covers Secret, Mythic, and Exclusive units, since those are the ones that carry through mid and late content. Legendary and Epic units are strong only for the first stretch of play, so they are left out to keep the picture clean.

Three Secrets and one Mythic sit at the top for very different reasons. Cursed Lover (Pure Love) earns its spot through Copy, which stores up to four copyable Active Abilities and lets it borrow whatever your best units bring to the board. That flexibility is backed by real damage, since Lingering Queens Heads adds recurring AOE and Love Beam lands a five-hit strike totaling 300% Damage.
Valcrad (Unleashed) runs one of the deepest kits on release. It stacks +15% Crit Chance, permanent Range scaling from crits, bonus Damage near bleeding enemies, summons, and progression through Restriction levels. Coffin Trap is the standout control tool, applying a seven-second Boss Stun when a target crosses the trap, though each boss can only be caught once. In longer stages, Restriction Release lets it snowball into its stronger forms as kills pile up.
Madaro (Edo Tensei) is the AOE pressure option. Every fifth attack triggers an extra 75% Damage strike and applies Calamity, which repeats part of the damage while the mark is active. Heaven Splitter adds a 500% Damage active with reach up to three times its normal Range, its defensive passive shrugs off debuffs and crowd control, and Yasaka Beads punish escaping enemies with extra damage plus a three-second stun on low-health targets.
Bluma (Data Analyst) is the economy anchor. Units inside her Range build Training Data through kills, which unlocks scaling Income bonuses that reach +30% Income at 380 Data. Her real value will depend on placement cost, upgrade prices, and how fast Data stacks in matches, but the economy ceiling alone makes her worth securing early.
A-tier and below: the notable cases
Noroto (Linked) is the clearest A-tier standout. After building 10 Chakra, Nine-Tails’ Cloak boosts Damage by 25%, cuts Cooldown by 20%, and raises Range by 15% for 20 seconds, while every third attack during the transformation adds a 50% Damage AOE burst. The downtime between transformations is what keeps it out of the top tier for now, but the powered state is excellent.
Goju (Honored One) lands in B because its kit is utility-first. Infinity nullifies attacks aimed at it, and Infinity Expansion applies a 30% Slow for six seconds to enemies that linger in Range. The catch is uncertain damage output, so the defensive tools and delayed Slow are easier to justify in B than among the carries. The remaining B and C picks are still being evaluated as evolutions and stats come online.
Best traits to reroll onto your carries
Traits are stored per unit through the Trait Reroll NPC, and each unit can hold two traits with one active at a time. Since rerolls are limited, spend them on premium carries and farm units rather than early throwaways. The table ranks traits by combat value, with rarity and roll chance included.
| Tier | Trait | Rarity | Key bonuses |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Immortal | Secret | +200% Damage, -15% Cooldown, +20% Range, +25% Income; limit 1 per team |
| S | Overseer | Mythic | +20% Damage, -5% Cooldown, +10% Range, +30% bonus True Damage |
| S | Rupture | Mythic | +30% Crit Chance, +35% Crit Damage |
| S | Decay | Mythic | +40% DoT Damage, -10% Cooldown, +10% Range |
| S | Ascendant | Mythic | +35% Boss Damage, +10% Damage, +10% Range |
| A | Hustler | Mythic | +15% Range, +30% Income |
| A | Stride | Mythic | -10% Damage, -10% Cooldown, +5% Range; Tempo up to -20% Cooldown |
| A | Joker | Mythic | +5% Damage, -5% Cooldown, +5% Range; random per-wave modifiers |
| A | Ace | Legendary | +10% Damage, -5% Cooldown, +10% Range |
| A | Nimble | Legendary | -20% Cooldown |
| A | Head Hunter | Epic | +20% Crit Chance, +25% Crit Damage |
| A | Looting | Legendary | +20% Income |
| B | Hawkeye | Legendary | +30% Range |
| B | Haste III | Epic | -12.5% Cooldown |
| B | Fury III | Epic | +15% Damage |
| B | Reach III | Epic | +15% Range |
| B | Scholar | Legendary | +50% EXP |
| C | Haste II | Rare | -7.5% Cooldown |
| C | Fury II | Rare | +10% Damage |
| C | Reach II | Rare | +10% Range |
| D | Haste I | Rare | -5% Cooldown |
| D | Fury I | Rare | +5% Damage |
| D | Reach I | Rare | +5% Range |
Immortal is the jackpot, since +200% Damage alone lifts it past everything else, and its once-per-match effect after Wave 10 instantly kills nearby non-boss enemies while knocking back and slowing the rest. Only one unit per team can carry it, so save it for a premium carry. Overseer is the safest general DPS trait because it stacks Damage, Cooldown, and Range with no requirement, while Rupture and Decay reward Crit-heavy and DoT-heavy kits respectively. Ascendant is the boss-focused pick thanks to its +35% Boss Damage.
For economy units like Bluma, aim for Hustler or the budget Looting rather than a pure damage roll. If you would rather not sink hundreds of rerolls chasing a Mythic, Ace is a strong Legendary stopping point that helps almost any DPS unit.
How this ranking was decided
Placements weigh ability kits, passives, rarity, and overall value across game modes, with extra credit for control tools, boss damage, and economy scaling. This reflects the launch release meta as of August 2026, and it stays preliminary until full stats, upgrades, elements, and more testing are locked in. Expect movement as units are evolved, ascended, and pushed through harder content, so treat the current order as a rough assessment rather than a final verdict.
