Anime Squadron Perks: Level Caps, Gold Costs, and What to Buy First

How Maximum Yen, Yen Generation, and Health scale, what each level costs in Gold, and the order to buy them.

Perks in Anime Squadron are permanent, account-wide upgrades that change the stats you start every round with. There are three of them, Maximum Yen, Yen Generation, and Health, and each is bought and leveled with Gold. The bonuses carry into Story stages, Squadron maps, and Raids the moment a match loads, so the Gold you spend keeps paying off no matter which mode you play.

Quick answer: Open the Perks menu from the left side of the lobby, then pour Gold into Maximum Yen until your strongest unit fits inside the cap, raise Yen Generation next for faster income, and leave Health alone unless enemies are reaching your base.

What each Anime Squadron perk does

Each perk controls one part of how a match opens. The boost per level is small, but it stacks every time you buy in and never resets between rounds.

Maximum Yen raises the ceiling on how much Yen you can hold during a round. A higher cap is what lets you field expensive, high-rarity units. If your best unit costs 500 Yen or more and your cap sits below that, the unit is effectively unusable until you raise it. Each level adds +0.5K to the cap.

Yen Generation increases how much Yen you earn per second during a match. Faster income keeps your economy steady when units die quickly and you need to place or upgrade something right away. Each level adds +15 Yen per second.

Health adds base stock, which is how many hits your base can take before the run ends. Each level adds +1 stock. It is by far the most expensive perk to scale, which is why most players treat it as a last resort.

Anime Squadron perk max level caps

Maximum Yen and Yen Generation both have known ceilings. Maximum Yen tops out at level 40, which brings your cap to 20.5K Yen. Yen Generation maxes at level 25 for 390 Yen per second. Because most players never invest in Health, its top level is not firmly established.

Perk upgrade costs and boosts by level

Costs climb steadily and predictably. Maximum Yen adds +0.5K Gold and +0.5K Yen per level. Yen Generation adds +750 Gold and +15 Yen/s per level. Health adds +5K Gold and +1 stock per level, which makes a single Health upgrade cost as much as ten Maximum Yen upgrades.

Which perk to upgrade first

Maximum Yen is the first place to spend Gold. If you cannot reach the Yen threshold for your best unit, that unit may as well not be in your roster. At 500 Gold for the first level and 500-Gold increments after that, you can push it to level 3 or 4 cheaply and gain 1.5K to 2K extra Yen, which opens up a much wider pool of deployable units.

Once your cap covers the units you actually field, shift Gold into Yen Generation. Faster income means less waiting between waves and more room to react when a lane starts to break. A common approach is to buy one or two levels of Maximum Yen, then alternate, raising the cap again only when you hit a wall and need to level units higher mid-match.

Health comes last, and many players skip it entirely. The Gold cost per level is steep, and the perk does nothing to win a round if your units stop enemies before they reach the base. The exception is early Squadron or Raid stages where leaks kill runs before your damage comes online. Treat base stock as a safety fix, not a core investment.

How to upgrade perks in Anime Squadron

Open the Perks menu using the button on the left side of the lobby.
Pick the stat you want to raise, Maximum Yen, Yen Generation, or Health.
Press Upgrade. The listed Gold cost is deducted and the perk moves to its next level. There is no cooldown or reset, and the boost applies the next time you start a round in any mode.

You confirm an upgrade worked when the perk’s level ticks up and your Gold total drops by the shown amount. If the Upgrade button does nothing, you do not have enough Gold for the next level. Short on Gold? Redeeming active Anime Squadron codes is the fastest way to fund your first several perk levels without grinding matches, and you can launch the game and enter codes from its official Roblox page.

One detail makes early Maximum Yen investment go further than it looks. When you upgrade a unit during a match, every new copy you place afterward starts at that same level automatically. Combined with a higher cap and faster income, that turns a small Gold investment into a much stronger board across a full run.
