PvE mode strips the human element out of an expedition entirely, leaving you alone against the machines. If you want to learn a map, grind materials, or rehearse a boss fight without someone third-partying your loot, this is the setting that makes it possible.

How ARC Raiders PvE mode works
PvE mode is a per-expedition choice, not a separate game. You flip it on from the lobby before deploying, and the run loads into an instance with no other squads in it. The threat shifts entirely to the ARC machines, and the game compensates for the missing players by raising enemy density.
The important part is that nothing else gets watered down. Quests still trigger, objectives still complete, and the loot tables match what you would pull in a standard run. You are trading player threat for thicker robot patrols, not trading away rewards.

When PvE mode is worth using
PvE shines when the goal is consistency rather than confrontation. With nobody contesting your loot, farming runs become predictable, and you can clear an area methodically instead of constantly checking corners for other Raiders.

- Practicing boss encounters like the Matriarch.
The catch is the bumped-up ARC density. A stealth-leaning build helps you slip past the extra patrols rather than fighting through every one of them. Be aware that ARC Sentinels can feel tougher here, since there are no rival players around to pull their attention away from you.
The Chinese “Rebellion” condition being tested
Separate from the standard PvE toggle, the Chinese client of ARC Raiders has been trialling a map condition that leans even harder into cooperation. Co-developed with Tencent after the game secured the ISBN licence needed to operate in China, this version ran beta tests that surfaced a few new conditions, the headline one being a pseudo-PvE setup.
It goes by Rebellion Incident, also translated as Rebellion Mechanic. Everyone drops in under an unspoken truce, treated as allies who are not meant to harm each other. A player can still choose to break that truce and attack someone, but the moment they do, the map flags them as a traitor with a red marker for the whole lobby to see and hunt down.
In this mode, players default that friendly troops cannot harm each other, but they can choose “rebellion” and then the map will announce that there are rebels somewhere.
The condition is also described as a low-difficulty run that’s heavy on resources, which fits its appeal to players who want the survival loop without the constant PvP pressure. A second condition spotted in the same tests, called Double King or Double Queen, does the opposite and drops both a Queen and a Matriarch onto the same map. Names like Safe Zone and Dual Boss have also appeared in translations.

Note: Rebellion Incident does not erase the threat of violence. It keeps betrayal possible and simply raises the cost of it, since rebels get painted and chased. It also remains exclusive to the Chinese build for now, and there is no confirmation that it will ever reach the global version of the game.
For most players outside China, the player-free PvE toggle is the practical way to get a calmer expedition right now. Switch it on in the lobby, plan around the denser ARC presence, and you get a run where the only thing standing between you and the extraction point is the machines.
