The "Shoring Up Defenses" objective that sends raiders into Hotel Panorama Azzurro on the new Riven Tides map has a frustrating quirk: the building is full of windows, but only a small subset will actually trigger the "Board Up Window" prompt. If you're running circles through the lobby and balconies, wondering why nothing is registering, the fix is location-specific rather than a bug.

What counts as a shuttered window
Most windows in the hotel are either fully blown out or already missing glass, and those will not give you an interaction prompt. The objective specifically requires a window covered by a closed barricade or red metal shutter. When you stand close to the correct one, the on-screen prompt reads E BOARD UP WINDOW on PC, and completing it places wooden planks across the shutter.
Open balcony doors, broken panes, and unshuttered openings are decorative for the purposes of this quest. Skip them and keep moving room to room until you see the closed red shutter on a window from inside a guest room.

Hotel Panorama Azzurro location and entry
The hotel sits on the western shoreline of Riven Tides and is marked as a high-loot POI. You can enter through the ground-floor lobby, climb in through ground-level openings, or use the ziplines on the eastern face to drop directly onto a balcony and circle around the upper floors from outside. The exterior route is often safer because the lobby tends to be patrolled by Pops, Fireballs, and turrets.
The rooms inside are numbered above each door, with the second floor housing the rooms in the 200 range. Some rooms are locked behind keys, but the ones that matter for this objective are accessible without one.

The reliable shutter
Players have reported different shutters working on different runs, but the second floor is the consistent area. Room 213 has come up repeatedly as a window that triggers the prompt, and another commonly cited spot is on the eastern side of the second floor, with the window facing south. If you walk into a room and the prompt does not appear within a step or two of the window, leave and try the next numbered room rather than wrestling with the camera angle.
Once the planks go up, the objective ticks off immediately in the quest tracker. There's no need to board multiple windows.

If the prompt never appears
A few specific reasons the interaction fails:
- The window is broken open rather than shuttered. Only closed red shutters work.
- You're standing on the balcony side instead of inside the room. Enter the room first.
- You're in a room whose shutter is purely cosmetic for that seed of the map. Move to the next room with a closed shutter.
The interaction does not consume any item from your inventory, so you don't need to bring materials in for this step. Only the Stacking Yard crane reinforcement requires an Arc Alloy.
Where this fits in the full quest
| Objective | Location | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Destroy 5 Wasps | Any map | Last hit on the Wasp counts |
| Destroy 3 Fireflies | Any map except Stella Montis | Last hit on the Firefly counts |
| Reinforce raider structure | Top of any Stacking Yard crane, Riven Tides | 1 Arc Alloy in inventory |
| Board up shuttered window | Hotel Panorama Azzurro, Riven Tides | Interact with a closed shutter |
Objectives can be completed across multiple raids and in any order, so dying after boarding the window does not reset progress. Once all four steps are done, return to Apollo in Speranza to turn in the quest and collect the rewards: a Dockmaster's Detector, three Barricade Kits, three Lure Grenade Traps, and a set of Seeker Grenades.
Treat the hotel run as a quick in-and-out: enter through a balcony zipline if you can, push to the second floor, find a closed red shutter, board it, and extract. The window itself is the only friction in this step, and once you know to ignore the broken openings, the objective resolves in under a minute.
