Baitfish is one of the few combat-adjacent trophies in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy that people miss on a first run, mostly because the natural instinct in a room full of Petrified is to crouch and stay quiet. The trophy asks for the opposite. You need to be loud, fast, and reckless enough to drag a crowd behind you.
Quick answer: Load Chapter XIII – As One, Sub-Chapter 3 (Surviving Corruption), then sprint in wide loops through the Petrified crowd until 20 of them are chasing Sophia at the same time. The trophy pops the instant the 20th one joins the chase.
What the Baitfish trophy actually requires
The condition is “Lure successfully 20 Petrified simultaneously.” Simultaneously is the operative word. Waking 40 Petrified across a whole chapter does nothing; the game counts how many are actively pursuing Sophia at a single moment.
Petrified enemies stay dormant while you move slowly. They react to speed. Sprint near one and it wakes, then follows the glowing blue trail Sophia leaves behind her on the ground. That trail mechanic is what makes the trophy possible at all, because a woken Petrified will keep tracking the path you ran rather than cutting you off, so a horde forms in a line behind you instead of surrounding you.

Add to Google Preferences →Fastest method: Chapter XIII, Sub-Chapter 3
The opening of Surviving Corruption is the densest Petrified gathering in the game, with roughly 50 of them packed into one ruined stone chamber. The objective on screen reads “Unlock the exit despite the Petrified.” Because the crowd sits seconds away from a checkpoint, a failed attempt costs almost nothing. Ten to fifteen seconds of running is usually enough.
Tip: Getting grabbed and killed is common here, so treat the first two or three attempts as practice. Retrying takes seconds from the checkpoint, and plenty of players land it on the third try.
Backup method: Chapter 9, grouping in batches
Near the end of Chapter 9 there is another room full of dormant Petrified, and it works if you would rather not replay Chapter XIII. The approach is more deliberate. Rather than one long sprint, wake small clusters at a time by running briefly near a group and then dropping back into a crouch, which parks them together.
Build two or three of these clusters around the room, then sprint past all of them in one pass so every group latches onto the same trail. The moment the combined count hits 20, Baitfish unlocks.
How to confirm the trophy unlocked
The “Baitfish Trophy earned!” notification appears in the top right corner of the screen the instant the 20th Petrified starts chasing. There is no post-encounter check and no need to survive afterwards. If Sophia is grabbed and killed a second later, the unlock still sticks, and the autosave icon confirms it was written.
When it does not fire, the cause is almost always one of three things. You moved too slowly and only a handful of Petrified ever woke. You were caught mid-run, which ends the chase before the count climbed. Or you engaged the horde instead of leading it, which is the same trap the arena fights later in Chapter XIII encourage.

Baitfish sits in the same bucket as the rest of the game’s combat trophies. Nothing about it is missable, Chapter Select is available at any point, and checkpoint restarts make repeat attempts cheap. If you are clearing the list after finishing the story, it is one of the quicker boxes to tick before moving on to the fussier ones like Untouchable.
