Battlefield 6: How to Unlock the Interdictor Sniper Rifle

Earning 100 Ace Medals through Top Gun event challenges is the only route to the Interdictor.

Earning 100 Ace Medals through Top Gun event challenges is the only route to the Interdictor.

The Interdictor is the long-range sniper rifle added to Battlefield 6 with the Top Gun mid-season content, and it does not sit anywhere in the Season 4 Battle Pass tiers. It is locked behind the event economy instead, which means the only way to hold it is to grind the Top Gun challenge list until you can pay for it.

Quick answer: Bank 100 Ace Medals by completing Top Gun event challenges, open the Event tab, select the Interdictor in the top-left reward slot, and press X (Xbox) or Square (PlayStation) to claim it.

Interdictor unlock cost and currency requirements

Ace Medals are a limited-time currency tied entirely to the Top Gun event. They cannot be bought, and no other activity in Battlefield 6 or REDSEC produces them. Every medal you own comes from finishing an event challenge, and each challenge lists its payout on the right side of the entry.

Because roughly half the challenges pay out between 30 and 80 medals, expect to finish two or three of them before the rifle is affordable. The larger 120 and 150 medal objectives can cover most of the cost on their own if you are already playing heavily.

How to find and complete Top Gun challenges

From the main menu, open the Challenges tab and pick the “Top Gun” subcategory. Everything that pays Ace Medals lives here, separate from your daily and weekly challenge lists.
Check the multiplier text under each challenge before you queue. Several objectives count double or triple depending on whether you are in Carrier Strike, Battle Royale, or an aircraft, which cuts the required work substantially.
Note that many challenges list two completion paths, one for multiplayer and one for Battle Royale or Gauntlet. Finishing either path closes out the whole challenge and pays the full reward, so you never have to play a mode you dislike.
Start with the cheapest objectives. Completing two matches in any mode pays 50 medals and counts double in Carrier Strike or Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep, while dealing 4,000 damage to vehicles pays 80 and counts double against aircraft.

Carrier Strike is the most efficient mode for the vehicle-focused objectives, since the airspace is crowded with helicopters and jets. Taking an AA Tank and holding a protected vantage point can clear the 4,000 vehicle damage challenge in a single match, as long as you stay clear of infantry flanks.

There is one more event challenge that sits outside the medal economy. Pulling off a Rendezook — bailing out of a jet mid-air, destroying an enemy jet with a rocket launcher, and getting back into your own aircraft before it hits the ground — awards the Showtime player card icon rather than Ace Medals.

Claiming the Interdictor and confirming the unlock

Once your balance reads 100 or higher, leave the Challenges menu and open the Event tab. The Interdictor sits in the top-left corner of the reward layout, ahead of the cosmetic rewards.
Highlight the rifle and press X on Xbox or Square on PlayStation to spend the medals. The unlock resolves immediately rather than queueing behind a match or a menu refresh.

Verify it worked by opening your loadout and checking the sniper rifle category. The Interdictor should now appear as owned and equippable, with 100 medals deducted from your event balance.

If the purchase prompt does not appear, the cause is almost always an incomplete challenge. Partial progress on multiple objectives does not convert into medals — a challenge has to be fully finished before its payout lands in your balance.

Interdictor performance and attachment setup

Out of the box, the Interdictor ships with a 10x scope, a bipod, and a five-round magazine. Damage per shot is extreme, but so is the penalty: the fire rate is very slow and recoil is punishing, which makes swapping between nearby targets awkward inside 75 meters.

Past 100 meters the trade pays off. High bullet velocity and heavy damage make distant, exposed targets easy work, and the rounds carry an explosive component that chips lightly armored vehicles such as helicopters. It is not a substitute for a launcher, but it can finish off a damaged truck or chopper.

For attachments, a Mag Catch speeds up reloads, Anti-Glare Coating hides your scope glint, and an extended magazine reduces how often you are caught empty. There is little on offer to tame the recoil since underbarrel options are thin, though Grip Pods are worth considering in urban fights where you can mount on windows, walls, or railings.

Because the Top Gun challenge list never rotates and no additional objectives are being added, the medal ceiling is fixed. Work through the vehicle and aircraft objectives while Carrier Strike is busy, and the 100 medals should arrive well before the event closes.
