A complete route through The Great Wall Terraces, from the first gate to the final Nue Malefact and Male Purifier fight.

Chapter 3 of Beast of Reincarnation drops Emma and Koo into The Great Wall Terraces, a mountainous region where someone has clearly beaten you to the local Nushi. The chapter is shorter than the first two, but it revolves around one stubborn boss: the Nue Malefact, who you chase and fight four separate times before the chapter closes.

Quick answer: Raise the first gate with the control panel, climb the western terrain to trigger the first Nue Malefact fight, chase it east across the large bridge for a second fight, then north to the Great Wall for a third. Ride the elevator up, grapple the pipe past the broken bridge, and beat the Nue Malefact (Lv. 20) and Male Purifier (Lv. 20) together to finish the chapter.

Open the first gate in The Great Wall Terraces

Like the start of Chapter 2, you arrive without a set objective. The area is worth exploring for items before you push on. A tent near the Cleanse Walker holds the Normal Recipe: Tofu, and close to that same tent you’ll find a control panel.

Use the control panel to raise the nearby gate. This opens the path deeper into the region. Shortly after, Brad radios in to say the signal for this area’s Nushi has vanished, which means someone had the same plan as Emma.

Reach the signal source (Nue Malefact fight one)

To find out what happened to the Nushi, head toward the source of the strange signal. Getting there means climbing the mountainous terrain with Emma’s lift ability and using her hair to bridge the gaps. Clear enemies and grab anything Koo spots along the way.

The spot you want sits on the western side of the river. You’ll know you’re close because the Nushi is already in its flower-like form, which normally only happens after it’s defeated. That’s a bad sign. Rest at the Campsite before you approach the dying Nushi, because a cutscene follows and an old enemy shows up.

The Nue Malefact from the flashback returns at Lv. 16. It flees once its health bar drops to roughly half, so you can’t finish it here. Winning this first encounter rewards the Ursine Memories, which unlock the Nushi Skill: Rampaging Asago, the Bloom Art: Asagao: Bao, and the Blade Art/Finisher: Asagao.

Chase across the river (Nue Malefact fight two)

The Nue Malefact retreats to the eastern side of the river. The cleanest crossing is the large bridge, which saves you from climbing down and back up the cliffs. Expect Golems on the way and one gap you’ll need to cross with Emma’s hair. Explore as you go to open the strongboxes Koo finds and look for a Dragon Vein shrine.

You’ll catch the Nue Malefact walking through part of the forest. Run up and start the fight. It keeps the damage from your first encounter, so it won’t have a full bar, and its moveset is unchanged. When its health drops to about the last quarter, it runs off again. Beating it down to that point grants the Erymanthian Memories, unlocking the Nushi Skill: Creeping Kiku and the Bloom Art Kiku: Bloom Strike.

Head north to the Great Wall (Nue Malefact fight three)

The boss flees to the northern tip of the map, which Brad calls the Great Wall. Before you follow, consider returning to the Cleanse Walker to check on Brad and Kagura and to grab a stat-boosting meal.

Watch for Giant Golems as you approach, since they can quickly drain Emma’s health. Find new Campsites along the route so you don’t have to backtrack far if you fall in battle.

Depending on your path, you may hit a drawn-up bridge. Use a mix of Emma’s hair and lift ability to reach the far side, then enter the small building beside the bridge and use the control panel to lower it.

Near the northern tip you’ll spot a huge mass of wood and metal structures. Climb to the top using Emma’s hair abilities until you reach a plateau with a large statue on the far side. Approaching the statue brings the Nue Malefact back, this time with a new lightning attack added to its otherwise familiar pattern. Fight it down to its last sliver of health and it runs off again, so there’s no reward for this round. Rest at the Campsite at the base of the odd statue before moving on.

Activate the elevator

The Nue Malefact escapes to higher ground, so you swap boss-hunting for elevator-hunting. This is a good moment to return to the Cleanse Walker for a stat-boosting meal ahead of the final fight.

Head to the base of the wall. Down there you’ll find what looks like a broken Cleanse Walker. It isn’t the elevator itself, but it’s sitting on it.

Reach the Nushi’s Lair and end the chapter

Stay on the elevator until it reaches the top of the wall. From there, use Emma’s hair and lift abilities to cross a destroyed bridge. Near the end, only a single slab of concrete angles down toward the water, and you can’t jump or make a hair bridge long enough to clear it. Grapple onto the pipe instead to swing across.

On the other side, grab everything nearby, including the strongbox contents, and check the Merchant’s wares. The Acid Arrows are worth picking up if you don’t already have them. Rest at the Campsite and spend any Attribute and skill points before you continue.

Move forward and the Nue Malefact returns, this time joined by the Male Purifier. This is the chapter’s final battle, pitting you against the Nue Malefact (Lv. 20) and Male Purifier (Lv. 20) at once. Both have their own health bar, but unlike the Nushi bosses, neither has a second phase, so there’s no surprise second bar. They also tend to take turns attacking and hang back while you focus on the other, which lets you deal with them one at a time.

Win the fight and you’re automatically returned to the Cleanse Walker, unlocking the Nushi Skill: Chimeric Flow. That’s your confirmation the chapter is complete. Rest up, and the next stop is Chapter 4: Stems in Pilgrim’s Zone.

If you’d rather squeeze the region dry before leaving, you can fast travel back later, so there’s no rush to grab every strongbox and shrine on the first pass. Just make sure the final Chimeric Flow unlock has fired, since that’s the clean marker that The Vessel is behind you.
