Best Fighting Style in Rintama High: Beast vs. Rush

Why Beast is the smarter first buy, what it costs, and where to unlock it in Shofukucho District.

Why Beast is the smarter first buy, what it costs, and where to unlock it in Shofukucho District.

Rintama High gives every student basic melee moves for free, but equipping a real fighting style is a paid choice you make at a single town vendor. Right now, the two styles that matter for new players are Beast and Rush, and the gap between them is mostly about price and how quickly you learn the combat.

Quick answer: Buy Beast for 2,500 Yen from Kamasaki Yuri in Shofukucho District. It is 1,500 Yen cheaper than Rush and is the better style for learning spacing, combos, and defense before you commit more Yen.

Beast vs. Rush costs and who each style suits

Beast is the recommended first purchase for one simple reason. It costs less, so a single early code or a couple of job shifts can cover it, and you can start practicing combat mechanics without draining your Yen. Rush is stronger for open-area pressure once you understand the game, but paying more for it before you can land basic combos wastes money you cannot get back.

Rush4,000 YenAggressive rush combos and open-area pressure

Note: Some versions of the vendor menu also show a Brawler option. Whatever appears in your own dialogue, check the price shown next to a style before you select it, because that number is what you actually pay.

Unlock a style at Kamasaki Yuri in Shofukucho District

Fighting styles are handled by a town NPC, not a settings menu, so reaching Kamasaki Yuri is the whole task. The route starts at the high school and ends at her vendor spot in Shofukucho District.

Stand at the high school and face the road leading out of the entrance. Follow the road on the right side of the school toward town.
Cross the pedestrian bridge and keep following the same path. Continue down into the Horiguchi Area and take the narrow brick alleyway.

Keep going until the area label at the top changes to Shofukucho District. This confirms you have reached the right zone.
Interact with Kamasaki Yuri at the fighting styles vendor and open her dialogue menu. Pick Beast (or another owned style) and pay the listed Yen if the price is not marked Free.

You do not need a quest, a level, or a completed job to buy a style. The only requirement for a paid option is having enough Yen in your character’s balance.

Fund a style with Yen from codes and jobs

Yen is the only thing standing between you and a style you do not already own. The fastest way to cover the cost is redeeming codes that pay Yen, then topping up with NPC job shifts around Hokuheki City. Codes rotate often and can expire, so prioritize the ones that actually grant Yen rather than reroll tokens alone.

CodeReward
STYLEJOBMONEYFIXES6,000 Yen, 2 Reroll Tokens
LAUNCHWEEK5,000 Yen, 5 Reroll Tokens
NOMORETOOLREQUESTSEXPLOIT3,000 Yen, 2 Reroll Tokens
DOWNTAMA2,500 Yen, 10 Reroll Tokens
bumdev2,000 Yen, 5 Reroll Tokens
GETACAMCORDER1,500 Yen

Redeem codes from the in-game phone. Press Tab or Q to open the phone, go to the Settings app, and enter a code exactly as written, since these entries are case-sensitive. If codes come up short, work jobs offered by NPCs across the map to make up the difference before your vendor trip.

Tip: Redeeming a single 6,000 Yen code covers Beast and Rush combined, so it is worth clearing the code list before spending anything at Kamasaki Yuri.

Purchases are non-refundable, so confirm before you buy

Once you pay for a style, the Yen is gone. There is no refund, no undo, and no trade-back at the vendor. That is exactly why Beast is the safer first buy. The lower price means a bad early decision costs you far less.

To switch styles later, walk back to Kamasaki Yuri and select a different option from her dialogue. Any style you already own shows as Free in the menu, while a new one charges its listed Yen. There is no mid-fight swap and no two-style loadout, so treat your selection as the style you are taking into the next fight and change it at the NPC beforehand.

You will know the purchase worked when your Yen total drops by the listed amount and the style appears as owned in Kamasaki Yuri’s menu. If a paid option does nothing, the usual reason is that you do not have enough Yen, so redeem another Yen code or finish a job shift and try again.

Start with Beast, take it to the Training Grounds to drill Guard, Evade, Lock On, and rush combos on a low-risk target, and only spend more Yen on Rush once you can land your openers reliably. That order keeps your money safe and gets you fighting sooner in Rintama High.
