Big Walk: How to Solve the Green Flare Puzzle by the Sea

Fire the green flare, track where it lands, and pull the red gourd from a hidden box in the coastal rocks.

Fire the green flare, track where it lands, and pull the red gourd from a hidden box in the coastal rocks.

The green flare puzzle near the coast in Big Walk hides its reward out of sight. When one player fires the flare, it arcs toward a box tucked into the shoreline rocks. The box holds a red gourd, the collectible you need for tower progress, but reaching it means one player has to follow the flare’s path while another keeps firing it.

Quick answer: Have one player hold the flare button by the sea while a second player walks the coastline in the direction the flare travels. Find the box wedged in a rocky alcove at the waterfront, open it, and take the red gourd.

What the green flare does

The flare is a direction pointer, not a decoration. Each time it fires, it shoots toward the exact spot where the hidden box sits along the shore. The box itself is camouflaged in a rocky alcove at the waterfront, so you will not spot it by wandering. You need the flare’s trajectory to tell you which stretch of coast to search.

Because the button and the box are far apart, this is a two-player job. One person stays at the flare and fires it, and the other follows where it points. There is no single-player route to the box.

Solve it with walkie-talkies (fastest method)

Assign roles before anyone moves. One player becomes the shooter at the flare by the sea, and the other becomes the runner who tracks the landing zone.
The shooter fires the green flare and calls out the direction it travels over the walkie-talkie. The runner uses that call to head down the coastline toward the flare’s arc.
As the runner moves, the shooter fires the flare again to correct the line. Keep talking until the runner is standing where the flare comes down, along the rocky waterfront.
The runner searches between the coastal rocks for the hidden box and opens it. The red gourd is inside.

Solve it without walkie-talkies

If you do not have walkie-talkies, the flare still works as your guide. Instead of talking the runner in, you re-fire the flare on a timer so the runner can visually track it.

The shooter holds the flare button to launch it, then waits for the green mist to clear.
Once the mist fades, fire the flare again. Repeating it gives the runner a fresh burst to line up against each time the view resets.
The runner keeps walking the coast in the flare’s direction, checking each new burst to stay on the correct path toward the rocks.
When the runner reaches the alcove the flare keeps pointing at, dig through the boulders for the box and open it to claim the red gourd.

How to know it worked

You have solved the puzzle when the runner opens or holds the hidden box and receives the red gourd. That gourd is the completion reward, so once it is in hand, the flare no longer needs to be fired.

Tip: If the runner reaches the shoreline but cannot find the box, have the shooter fire once more and watch the arc closely. The box hides between larger boulders right at the water’s edge, so search the gaps rather than the open beach.
