Big Walk: How to Solve the Mountain Gesture Puzzle (Five Telescope Poses)

The Mountain Gesture Puzzle sits at a mountain overlook tied to the Red Tower area in Big Walk, and it only works with two players standing in different places. One person watches five distant platforms through the telescopes, while the other travels out to each platform and copies down the pose shown there. Get all five poses matched to the correct cards and the section’s collectible unlocks.

Quick answer: One player (the spotter) stays at the overlook telescopes and holds the gesture cards. The other player (the explorer) visits each of the five platforms, reads the exact pose (left arm raised, right arm raised, both arms raised, crouching, or a combination), and calls it back. The spotter places the matching card in the rack for each platform. Finish all five and the collectible appears.

What you need before starting

This puzzle cannot be solved alone. The spotter can see the platforms and touch the gesture cards but can’t inspect the poses up close, and the explorer can reach the poses but can’t reach the cards. You need a way to pass information between the two positions and a clear naming system for the arm movements.

The poses are built from a small set of movements. Before you begin, agree on plain names for raising the left arm, raising the right arm, raising both arms, and crouching, plus any combinations of those.

Set the two roles and keep them fixed

The fastest way through is to lock the roles and never swap. Constantly trading places just loses track of which platform you’ve already handled.

How to solve the five platforms

Send one player to the overlook and have them look through the telescopes. They will see the scattered platforms, each showing its own figure in a pose. This player becomes the spotter and stays put for the whole puzzle.

The spotter picks one platform and tells the explorer exactly where to go. Solve one platform at a time rather than trying to scout all five at once.

The explorer travels to that platform and studies the figure closely. Don’t try to nickname the pose. Break it down by movement, noting whether the left arm is up, the right arm is up, both arms are up, or the character is crouching.

The explorer reports the movements back to the spotter. The spotter finds the gesture card that matches that exact description and places it in the correct slot of the rack.

Repeat the same loop for the remaining platforms until all five gestures are placed. There are five platforms total, so confirm each one immediately before moving to the next to avoid mixing up the order.

Tip: Reading each pose in a fixed platform order and communicating it right away keeps both players in sync. If a raised arm looks ambiguous from a distance, the binoculars usually settle whether an arm is up or down.

How to know it worked and what you get

Once all five gestures are correctly identified and their cards sit in the rack, the puzzle completes and the final collectible for this section becomes available. Grab that collectible and carry it back to the Red Tower.
