Big Walk scatters interactable objects across its open world, and each one has a defined job in a puzzle or in getting your group from one area to the next. There are nine world items in total. Some drive the main path forward, others exist to help you spot, signal, or carry things, and a few are still being pinned down.
Quick answer: The nine world items are the Backpack, Buoy, Field Radio, Gourd, Key Piece, Microphone, Signal Flags, Telescope, and Volleyball. The Gourd and Key Piece are the progression items that open major pathways like the red bridge; the rest support navigation, signaling, and puzzle-solving.

Two of the nine items push the main path forward, and you meet the first one almost immediately. The Gourd comes in a set of four, and each Gourd sits behind its own mini puzzle in the introduction area. Once you have all four, you place them into the slots on the main puzzle. Solving it opens the red bridge and lets your group leave the starting stretch behind.
The Key Piece is the longer-running progression item. You release Key Pieces by solving area puzzles scattered around the map, but a Key Piece is not usable the moment you pick it up. You have to carry it to the shaping altars first, where it gets cut down to the correct shape. Only after shaping can it unlock the big pathways, including the red bridge.
Note: Both items reward teamwork. One player often needs to hold a mechanism while another retrieves the piece, so plan to have at least one friend with you before you attempt the puzzles that release them.
Field Radio, Telescope, and Microphone: signaling and puzzle tools
The Field Radio is easy to reach early. It sits on the crosswalk just past the first music area. Once you locate and activate the seven radio stations around the world, the Field Radio lets you play music from each of them.
The Telescope appears on platforms across the map, and one is near the first key puzzle, up the hill to the right. It lets you study objects from a distance and is built for the puzzles that ask you to spot faraway details, such as containers sitting out in the distance.
The Microphone belongs to the direction microphone puzzle stage, found around coordinates 34 12 on the map. It powers an acoustic challenge where one player sits in the chair wearing headphones and calls out which microphone is active in each round while the others react.
Backpack: extra carrying space from the blue buildings
The Backpack lives inside the nine giant blue basket-like buildings dotted around the map. Once worn, it lets you carry an item on your back that a friend can pull off and use, which matters a lot when a puzzle asks you to juggle more than one object at a time.
You cannot equip a Backpack by yourself. A teammate has to take it and put it on you, so treat it as a two-player pickup. After it is on, you no longer need help to load items into it.
Items still being documented: Buoy, Signal Flags, and Volleyball
Three of the nine world items do not yet have confirmed locations and uses. The Buoy, Signal Flags, and Volleyball round out the set, but their exact spots on the map and their roles in puzzles are still being confirmed. Until those details are locked, treat them as known parts of the item roster rather than something you need to chase down for progression.
With the Gourd and Key Piece handling progression and the Field Radio, Telescope, Microphone, and Backpack covering signaling and carrying, you have everything you need to clear the early and mid-game puzzles. Knowing what each object does before you trip over it saves a lot of guesswork on the trail.
