The Upton Travers Templar Hunt starts as a simple contract and turns into a story about two brothers, a stolen treasure map, and a drunken night through Nassau. It runs across four linked missions and rewards you with the third of four Templar Keys, which build toward the full Templar Armor set in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
Quick answer: Speak to Vance Travers in the Eleuthera region of Nassau, then finish all four missions in order (Oh Brother, The Other Brother, Upton’s Sorrow, Queen of Pirates, King of Fools). Assassinate Vance in the eastern swamp, chase down and kill Jing Lang, and return to Upton to collect the Templar Key.

Requirements and where to start
Before any of the four Templar Hunts open up, you must finish the mission This Old Cove. That single unlock gates every hunt in the game, so the Upton Travers questline will not appear on your map until it is done.
This hunt begins with Vance Travers, the second of the four targets. Find him in the Eleuthera region on the island of Nassau, standing outside a small wooden house toward the south of the island near the coast. Speak to him and he asks for help dealing with his brother, Upton Travers, claiming Upton has turned against the Brotherhood.
After talking to Vance, head north toward the quest marker until you enter the ‘Explore’ area at the nearby market. Switch on Eagle Vision and look for the green markers, which highlight Upton’s men moving through the streets.
You have two ways to find the hideout. Tail Upton’s men quietly and let them walk you straight to it, or take them out. Killing them stops you from following the exact path, but it shrinks the ‘Explore’ zone on your map so the hideout is still easy to reach.
Follow the reduced marker west until you reach the hideout, where Upton Travers stands in the middle of the courtyard. Sneak in through the grass or climb to the rooftops and line up an air assassination.
When you try to strike, a cutscene interrupts the kill. Upton, it turns out, runs the local Assassin Bureau, and Vance has been lying to you from the start.
Follow the marker to meet Upton at the bureau in Nassau. Speak to him and start walking as he explains the real situation, that he and Vance each hold half of a treasure map and Vance wants both halves for the Templar Jing Lang.
When Upton tells you to hide, drop into the bushes beside where he stops and eavesdrop on the two brothers. After the conversation, approach Upton and keep following him.
Partway through the walk you are told to kill Jing Lang’s men surrounding a house. Clear them out, dealing with the guards in the garden first and then the pair at the entrance.
Investigate the house once it is clear. On the northern side, under an awning, sits a letter from Jing Lang on a wooden crate. It reveals that Vance has gone to meet her with his half of the map and points you to their meeting spot.
Speak to Upton, who then moves to safety, and travel to the tavern to eavesdrop on Vance and Jing Lang. Hide underneath the wooden staircase next to the tavern, which is the only spot that lets the conversation play out without being spotted.
You learn that Vance has hired assassins to kill Upton and take his half of the map. Rush back to Upton’s hideout, where he is already under attack, defeat the soldiers, and defend him until the area is clear. Speak to him again afterward, and he moves north to the tavern to begin the next mission.
Meet a drunken Upton near the tavern. He confides in you and then starts a brawl. Since nobody uses weapons, knock the attackers off balance and finish them with normal strikes while keeping Upton safe.
Escort the drunk Upton home by following him and keeping him out of trouble. He stops to solicit a group of dancers and asks you to deal with them, so pay them 100 Reales to move on.
Upton then relieves himself in the street, which draws a group of guards. Clear them out to continue the escort, then talk to Upton when the prompt appears to finish the mission.
Track Upton again and meet a sober version of him in the swamp on the eastern side of the island. He gives the final objective, which is to assassinate Vance Travers and recover the Templar Key. Vance is in the swamp just east of this spot.
Rather than fighting through every guard, parkour along the trees ahead. You will pass guards loading a boat that you can take out, then use Eagle Vision and look north to spot a glowing green marker beside a white tent.
Move to the tent, clearing any guards in the way, and assassinate Vance Travers there. A Sleep Dart works well to drop him first before the kill. A short cutscene plays afterward.
Jing Lang then flees into the swamp. She is immune to damage while running, so save your ammo and simply chase her down. When she stops and turns to fight alongside two guards, defeat the guards first, then kill Jing Lang to secure the third Templar Key.
How you know it is done and what comes next
Before the hunt closes out, return to Upton one last time to tell him what happened. Once that conversation ends, the Templar Key is yours and the questline is complete. This is the third of four keys, so two more remain.
From here, your next stop is the Templar Hunt in Kingston, where you help a contact known as Anto. Finishing all four hunts unlocks the Templar Armor, a strong set well worth chasing early in your run.
