Bloodhound’s Season 30 Rework Hasn’t Moved Its Apex Legends Pick Rate

The Marked update rebuilt every ability, yet Gold-and-above players still barely touch the tracker.

The Marked update rebuilt every ability, yet Gold-and-above players still barely touch the tracker.

Bloodhound entered Season 30 of Apex Legends with a full kit overhaul, a fresh ultimate, and stronger scans, but the numbers tell a blunt story. The reworked tracker still sits near the bottom of the roster once you climb past the entry ranks, and high-elo lobbies are ignoring it almost entirely.

Quick answer: Bloodhound’s overall pick rate is 9.9%, one of the higher figures in the game, but that number is carried by low ranks. In Platinum it drops to 1.3%, in Diamond to 0.8%, and in Master/Apex Predator to just 0.5%.

Bloodhound pick rate by rank after the Season 30 rework

The overall figure looks healthy, but breaking it apart by rank exposes the problem. Newer and lower-skill players are picking Bloodhound often, while experienced players drop the Legend almost completely as the competition gets harder.

RankBloodhound pick rate
Rookie15%
Bronze9.7%
Silver9.5%
Gold5.2%
Platinum1.3%
Diamond0.8%
Master / Apex Predator0.5%

The pattern is the reverse of what Respawn wanted. Bloodhound loses more than 14 percentage points of popularity between Rookie and the top ranks. Players who have mastered the game are the clearest signal of a Legend’s competitive value, and they are steering away from the hunter even after every ability changed.

Why the overall number is misleading: the Axle comparison

Axle sits at a 9.2% overall pick rate, slightly lower than Bloodhound. The difference is direction. Axle is picked more the higher you climb, which is the mark of a strong competitive Legend.

Axle2.2%15.9%9.2%

Axle even took a nerf in the Season 30 update, and she still climbs to 15.9% in Diamond. Bloodhound got a top-to-bottom rework and still collapses to under 1% at the same rank. When two Legends share a similar overall figure but split in opposite directions across ranks, the one that rises with skill is the one carrying real value.

What the Season 30 rework actually changed

Bloodhound is one of the original Legends, and the Marked update touched the passive, tactical, ultimate, and the upgrade tree. The core identity as a tracker stayed the same, but the tools around it were rebuilt.

Passive

  • Fresh enemy clues now leave a red glowing trail you can follow toward opponents.
  • Most clue types were removed. Only traversal clues and eliminations remain.
  • Black ravens spawn more reliably after a behavior adjustment.
  • White ravens now fly up to 400m, up from a 190m baseline.
  • You can activate white ravens remotely by looking at them for a short time, with no scan or physical interaction needed.

Tactical

The scan now runs a full-body reveal for 3 seconds. After that reveal ends, it creates four follow-up “snapshot” scans spaced 1.5 seconds apart, extending how long you can keep enemies tracked without turning it into a permanent wallhack.

Ultimate: Allfather’s Cloak

The old Beast of the Hunt solo frenzy is gone. The new ultimate throws down a device that cloaks anyone who enters its range, including squadmates and enemies. Cloaked players gain 20% movement speed and threat vision.

  • The cloaking area lasts 8 seconds.
  • The cloak itself lasts 12 seconds after you leave the area.
  • Cloak breaks when you take damage, fire your weapon, or use most abilities.
  • Bloodhound’s own abilities can be used without breaking the cloak.

Upgrades

UpgradeEffect
Hidden Sight (Lvl 2)Using the ultimate refreshes your tactical, and scanning while cloaked hides the visual effect from enemies.
Bird’s EyeWhite ravens split and fly to the two nearest enemies on different squads.
True Predator (Lvl 3)Shooting temporarily interrupts your cloak instead of breaking it, supporting hit-and-run play.

Taste of Blood was removed, and Raven’s Flight was buffed and folded into the base kit rather than living as an upgrade.

Why high-elo players still pass on Bloodhound

Respawn stated the goal directly. Bloodhound had the lowest pick rate once you reached Gold and above, and the rework was meant to make the Legend a viable competitive pick at all skill levels. The passive glow, longer scans, and a team-friendly cloak were built to serve that aim.

So far the top ranks have not responded. Season 30 is a fast, movement-driven meta where rotation and repositioning tools decide fights, and the Legends thriving in Diamond and above are the ones that create speed and space. A tracker that reveals enemies but does not move a squad the way the current best picks do struggles to justify a slot in a coordinated composition.

The rework did make Bloodhound more approachable, which is why Rookie through Silver picks stay high. Turning that early popularity into staying power at the top of the ladder is the piece the Marked update has not delivered yet.
