Borderlands 4 Codes (July 2026)

Borderlands 4 is Gearbox’s looter-shooter set across a new planet packed with procedurally generated weapons and Vault Hunter mayhem. SHiFT codes give you free Golden Keys — which unlock high-quality loot from Golden Chests scattered across the game’s hub towns — plus cosmetic skins for your Vault Hunter, weapons, and ECHO-4 drone.

The codes below are currently active. Cosmetic codes tied to permanent rewards expire December 31, 2030, while Golden Key codes can expire within days of release, so redeem them as soon as possible.

How to Redeem SHiFT Codes

There are two ways to redeem codes: through the official SHiFT website or directly inside Borderlands 4. Both methods deliver rewards to the same account, so use whichever is more convenient. Make sure your gaming platform is linked to your SHiFT account before you start.

Redeem via the SHiFT website

Create or sign in to your SHiFT account at the official SHiFT rewards page. If you haven’t linked your gaming platform yet, go to the Gaming Platforms tab and connect it now.

Select the Rewards tab, then find the Code Redemption field. Paste or type your SHiFT code and click Check.

If the code is valid, the site confirms the reward. It will be delivered to your in-game account automatically — no further action needed.

Redeem inside Borderlands 4

Launch Borderlands 4 and open the pause menu from anywhere in the game, or access it from the main menu.

Navigate to the SHiFT tab, then select the Rewards tab in the left sidebar.

Enter your code in the Code Redemption field and press Redeem. A confirmation message appears when the code is accepted.

Note: Unlike earlier Borderlands games, rewards from SHiFT codes in Borderlands 4 do not arrive through the in-game Mail tab. They apply directly to your account.

Golden Keys and Golden Chests

Golden Keys are spent at Golden Chests, which are located in each faction’s main hub town. All four chest locations appear on the world map and compass, so they’re easy to find as you progress through the main story. Each chest costs one Golden Key to open and yields high-quality Epic loot, with a small chance of dropping a Legendary or even a Pearlescent item from the world drop pool.

The four Golden Chest locations are The Launchpad, Belton’s Bore, Carcadia, and The Lockaway. You’ll encounter most of them naturally during the campaign, with the first appearing at Outbounders HQ early in the story.

Tip: Golden Keys scale to your current level, so they’re most useful while leveling up rather than at max level, where dedicated boss farming for specific Legendary gear tends to be more efficient.

Where to Find New SHiFT Codes

Gearbox releases SHiFT codes on an irregular schedule with no fixed cadence. They appear on the official Borderlands account on X and through Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford’s personal account, @DuvalMagic, sometimes with very little notice. Golden Key codes in particular tend to expire within a few days of release, so checking regularly is the best way to catch them before they go inactive.
